To keep up the good press and make people feel like this is a must see show, Brian and the Boys roll out another theme: Taking the audience on a chronological tour through the Beach Boys' entire history by playing something from "virtually all of the band's studio albums".

California Girls
Sloop John B
Cottonfields
Hawaii (Dave & Jeff)
In My Room
Sail On Sailor

Introduce the theme, starting with the first album

Summertime Blues
Farmer’s Daughter
Surfer Girl
Little Deuce Coupe (Al)
Don't Worry Baby (Jeff)
All Summer Long
Little Saint Nick  (if the tour runs through the holiday season)
Do You Wanna Dance?
Then I Kissed Her
There's No Other (Like My Baby)
God Only Knows
Our Prayer
Surf's Up (Brian & Jeff)
Heroes And Villains (single version)
Darlin'
Wild Honey
Little Bird
Do It Again
Add Some Music To Your Day
Forever (Dave)
'Til I Die
Marcella
Hold On Dear Brother (or Funky Pretty)
California
Rock and Roll Music
Susie Cincinnati
Honkin' Down The Highway
Come Go With Me   ("Give it up for the GREAT Alan Jardine!")
Good Timin'
School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes the Bell)
Getcha Back
California Dreamin'
Isn't It Time (with Dave on Mike's part and Jeff on Bruce's)
From There To Back Again

Brian asks the audience if they liked that. Smiley

Wouldn't It Be Nice
Surfin' USA
Good Vibrations

I Get Around
Help Me Rhonda
Barbara Ann
Fun, Fun, Fun

...Or something like that.  Grin

I think it would be a lot of fun and something interesting the press could latch onto and promote.

Isn't it already an anti-smoking song? "... You know she stopped and she lit it and everybody in the back seat suffocated." I cant see where that promotes smoking in a positive way. Just saying...

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.
Amen.  ---hypehat

I'm going to represent the Elephant in the room by saying this.. but

you wonder why Al isn't doing more leads?  Could it be that Al has a lot of trouble remembering lyrics these days... I've seen a could of quotes and reviews that make it sound that Al's memory (at 70+ years) just isn't what it once was...
This would explain the small number of leads he's doing...

If that were the case then I'm sure they could use an autocue as they have at times with Brian.

Because it's a Brian Wilson show with special guests, not a tour by The Ex-Beach-Boys?

Cheers,

I say this with utmost respect to Al...he is by far my favorite vocalist of the remaining beach boys. But he has been forgetting lyrics since the 60s...I don't think it has anything to do with his memory going, it's just not a strength of his. I think that Jon is on point when he says that it's because it's z Brian Wilson tour, and I'll also add that it's a co-headlining tour with Jeff beck. Al and Dave get second billing here unfortunately, and their leads are limited due to just having one full set.

At times? Try every solo show the man has done since 1999. With the exception of one or two where the prompter broke. (Of course, it turns out he could remember them perfectly fine on those occasions ...)

I think Andrew was attempting a dirty joke. "Ya know, why didn't Al do Susie Cincinnati?"

Spot on. All's forgotten lyrics on stage and in the studios since at least 1966. It's part of the charm! I hope he gets to forget the odd opening line in the UK soon…

It's a fantastic song! Al's best ever, with Brian on bass on the studio version.

Does Al really refuse to play SC? Why? Source?
