I don't know how long this Podcasts has been up, but breakfast with the Beatles had Bruce on it recently within the past few episodes. He discusses his start and how he got into the BeachBoys, went over topics about the Beatles influence. Discussed how awesome Rubber Soul was (mentioned Michelle, Girl, In my Life, and Norwegin Wood). they played the first minute of Tell Me Why from the Party album. Talked about how he started out on summer days, Barbara Ann, and Pet sounds. Interestingly enough, he said that pet sounds should have been a solo album just as The Wall should have been a solo album for Roger Waters. I find that interesting since he sang backing vocals for that album and was an observer of Pink Floyd of that time. Of course talked about Keith Moon taking him to John/Paul to play Pet Sounds. Mentioned Here There and Everywhere's brilliance. He said She's Leaving Home and A Day in the Life are his two favorite Beatles songs. The host Dennis Mitchell expresses his liking of Heroes and Villains. Bruce mentions Dylan and the recording of Blowing in the Wind by Peter Paul & Mary. He briefly mentions the White album. Talked about Good Vibrations and how Mike dictated his lyrics to his wife on the way to the studio and that he didn't like the drug scene. He says the Beach Boys provided an incredible life, living in Santa Barabra, putting 4 kids through grad school and leaving near his surf spot from high school.
Here's the website for the podcast, I'm not exactly sure where the episode ison that site but I got it on the podcasts app.
http://www.beatlesradioshow.com/index.htmlThe episode is BWTB #1139 Bruce Johnston Hour 1.
I highly recommend the podcast in general. If I had the technology, I'd tried to do the same thing Dennis Mitchell does except with the Beach Boys!
