On Sunday, May 5, Van Dyke performs at the Borderline club in London. Tickets are 20 pounds and it looks like some are still available....
and at the website of the Guardian, his entire Songs Cycled album can be heard right now (though apparently in the UK, not in the US) -

I'm going to this (assuming I'm well enough -- not very well today). If anyone wants to say Hi, I'm the fat one with an enormous beard and a slight resemblance to Carl Wilson.

Lovely stuff, very intimate. Surprised he didn't do more from his new album(s); the set list was very much the same as, well, the one he normally does, but I so love to hear "Orange Crate Art" and "Delta Queen Waltz" and "FDR In Trinidad" and "Sailin' Shoes" and "The All Golden" that it would be churlish to complain. He signed my copy of Songs Cycled at the end and was the perfect gentleman.
Also in attendance this evening: Loudon Wainwright III.

Photo of Van Dyke (with Gaby Moreno, his guest vocalist at the Borderline gig) in front of London Bridge (the one that didn't get moved to Arizona):

And

is a photo of the merchandise table at the gig. I was curious about how much was being charged for the LPs so I looked at the price list displayed on the table. Didn't spot that - but I did see the list had "CASSETTES" on it.
Incredible. When was the last time you saw cassettes for sale at a merch table at a gig? I think for me, it was in the middle of the first term of the second Bush presidency.
I wonder if Van Dyke has a closetful of cutout copies of the cassettes that came out at the same time as the Warner Bros CDs of his back catalog, in 1993, and loaded 'em into a steamer trunk and flew 'em over just to see if some completist collectors in London and Europe might take 'em.

Nice pics - but I am disappointed that there were no 8 track cartridges on sale.

VDP dropped all of the 8 Tracks off at my house on his way over

That's Tower Bridge.

… but if you've got £130,000,000 it can be London Bridge of course. Where would you like it delivered?
