In the early 90's, when rock music was starting to sound dirty again, the Boys unleashed this slick, sub-adult contemporary shitbomb upon the world.

That was amazingly put.

1. Lahaina Aloha - 215 (14)
2. Strange Things Happens - 203.5 (2)
3. Summer in Paradise - 174 (1)
4. Still Surfin' - 158 (1)
5. Hot Fun in the Summertime - 147.5 (2)
6. Island Fever - 146 (1)
7. Slow Summer Dancin' (One Summer Night) - 135.5
8. Under the Boardwalk - 123
9. Forever - 103
10. Remember Walking in the Sand - 91.5
11. Summer of Love - 86.5
12. Surfin' - 58.5

My thoughts?  Lahaina Aloha needed to be the number one choice, though it was much tighter than the first place votes would let on.  Forever is the song that gets the short stick IMO, not because it has anything on the far superior original but because the basic elements of the song are still there.

Oof. This one is hard to rank because I don't know which songs I dislike more than the others. I only know my favorite track. But here we go anyway...

1. Hot Fun In The Summertime (I like Mike's bass voice)

the rest is hard to rank...

2. Summer In Paradise (the live version on MIC is pretty good I suppose)
3. Forever (well, because I love the original)
4. Surfin (only because I like the original)

oh man, the remainder is killing me...
I'm unsure if this order is correct for me or not...
best shot...

5. Still Surfin
6. Slow Summer Dancing
7. Under The Boardwalk
8. Lahaina Aloha
9. Remember Walking In The Sand
10. Island Fever
11. Strange Things Happen
12.Summer Of Love

I have a headache now.

1. Slow Summer Dancin'--- What can I say? I love this song. I just wish it didn't have that annoying snare drum!!!!!!!
2. Island Fever--- With the right production and marketing, it could've been a hit.
3. Summer In Paradise--- I hate the US version, but the UK version is very good.
4. Still Surfin'--- A neat chord progression, but bad vocals.
5. Hot Fun In The Summertime--- Fun cover, but the production is horrible.
6. Forever--- NOOO!!! WHYY?Huh? But, the beauty of Denny's music and lyrics shine through, no matter who's singing.
7. Lahaina Aloha--- Catchy--- but the production sucks!! I'm seeing a pattern here...
8. Under The Boardwalk--- Ugh god... This stinks......
9. Walkin In The Sand--- REMEMBA CRINGE
10. Surfin'--- DAMNIT! Why don't we take another classic, and ruin it.
11. Summer Of Love--- Possibly the worst song ever recorded.

Basically, this could've been an OK album, with good production.

1. Strange Things Happen (The only song here that I actually somewhat enjoy!)
2. Still Surfin'
3. Lahaina Aloha
4. Summer in Paradise (As horrible as the song references are, it's kinda pretty)
5. Remember Walking in the Sand (the only song here where I don't mind the Sax)
6. Summer of Love (so bad it's enjoyable! Isn't it kinda funny how i'd rather listen to this than half of the songs on the album? Just goes to show the quality of the album!)
7. Hot Fun in the Summertime
8. One Summer Night (Those drums will be the death of me some day...)
9. Island Fever
10. Under the Boardwalk (yucky)
11. Surfin'
12. Forever

Ugh, it's kinda funny. After listening to this album, I went to Beach Boys In Concert to bleach my brain, and the change in quality is like a huge shock to my body. But in a good way.

Jiggy,

I'm still amazing that The Beach Boys could mess up Under the Boardwalk that badly.  It's a shame they didn't record it in the 60s, or even during the late 70s.

They wanted to remake Surfin? In what style from 2000? EMO?  Wink

Good to see Island Fever high up there, not too many favor that one, but I do.

Bruce said around 2002 that they had asked the people who made the Macarena to do a remix of the SIP version of Surfin' "In a Britney Spears style", for possible use as a fortieth-anniversary release. I presume that's what Eric was referring to.

Maybe that'll see the light on Made In California Wink
wait was Britney even around singing in 1992?

One of the most embarrassing albums I have ever listened to and the only album by the band that I tossed into the garbage can.
