Thanks' from way up north where the air gets cold.  Sounds so good next to the fire place here  in Minnesota .  A bear in the back yard looking for a treat and Dennis singing....this is a Christmas gift today. Best wishes to all. Greg Larson wish you were still around my friend!

Was there a reason(s) why Morning Christmas wasn't included on the 2008 Legacy reissue of Pacific Ocean Blue? Thought it should have been there...

Previously released, I'm guessing.

It was included  Roll Eyes

Sorry trying to be a smart arse  Afro

What I mean is it sounds quite similar to Common, although I don't really know how closely related the two pieces actually were.  Is there any documented evidence that they share derivation?

It's a fantastic piece of music, wherever it comes from. We should be glad it actually made it out, after being on low-quality boots for years...

Thanks for the info, all. I would love to learn more about the song's history, whether it was derived from "Common", etc.

Merry Christmas again everyone. Listening to this song right now, wondering when exactly it was recorded. Also did notice the ending piano coda of "Common" is indeed the exact same ending as "Morning Christmas". Never even noticed that.

That's be a good thread - Songs For Playing Around The Fire On A Wintery Evening.

Morning Christmas and Goin' South get my vote. Cabin Essence too. Almost anything from Friends.

I think Smiley Smile is a great winter record... A little too dark and creepy for Christmas though.

Since "Morning Christmas" comes from November '77 and "Common" from April '78, I'd say it was the other way around.

Also parts are reminiscent of Happy Xmas (War is Over) IMHO.
