I don't disagree but I do think this same effect can be achieved even with post-popularity treasures like, for example, "Time To Get Alone" or "Mona".

Well put, wise words indeed.

I think the earlier stuff works best when enjoyed communally, later stuff works best alone, with headphones.

Don't disagree.  But,

I was drinking with a few
friends the other night and we were listening to Party! and the good feelings that the
music brought out in us were contagious. Anyone who would've stepped in the room
would've felt that way, I believe. The same thing happened with Surfin' U.S.A. I could not say
that for TSS/BWPS or even Pet Sounds
, even though Pet Sounds is a greater work...

would you agree that certain, extra special songs achieve both high artistry and contagious good feelings?

I'm mostly talking about Wouldn't It Be Nice to be fair  Afro  Maybe Sloop John and Good Vibrations as well.  (Possibly I Get Around as well if that's not pushing the timescales a bit too far).  I do appreciate that these are perhaps exceptions to the general point you were making.

I take it back, no mona, no WIBN. To achieve world peace, the pre- Pet sounds records are all we need.

Wow, so I guess songs like This Whole World is out..... Sad

I do as well.  I've often tried to decide exactly why I like the early stuff so much, I think he hit it on the head.  It's more light hearted, and therefore the vibes are just heaven.  "Catch a Wave" is the most like that for me, I think that song is just so cool, it's impossible for me to hear it or even think of it and not smile.  Instant positivity.  Very spiritual in my opinion.
