So far heard only Disc One - and it's turning out to be my favourite jazz album.
Big fan of Louis Armstrong. Am going to check the local site if it has this for free. Thanks for posting.

Sweet, that collection is there.

To be "terribly sorry" when dealing with taste is a stretch.

That's humour, RR. Possibly old-timer humour. LOL

Gumboots.

Vampire Weekend is the Simon and Garfunkel of my generation.

Now I'm listening to The Werewolf. I can't tell how I feel...
Now it's Why Don't You Write Me. This I like.

I've tried stuff by Ezra Koenig and co but it just doesn't work for me. I'm terribly sorry, u-m. Must be a generational thing. Cool Guy
Ah, one band we disagree on. That's ok, I think we can still be friends, haha Tongue

That's a relief! I was getting worried there. Grin

These days I'm listening to an amazing band called WOLVEZ. Saw their name mentioned across the road.

Is it necessary to mention that forum, john? You could just say the name of band and link. This is Smiley board. If you like reading the other board - cool, just don't mention it. It's odd to visit Smiley and read about other board.

I'll explain - I am conservative, I like consistency and I'm used to this board for 5 years. It's strange to visit Smiley Smile and read suddenly about "new forum". I think enough is enough. Once-twice but everytime to see these references is quite bizarre.

Kinda early-2000s Flaming Lips vibes, huh?

you expressed interest in Odesza; perhaps you'd like this artist called Chrome Sparks? Try "Send the Pain On." It's like a more electronic version of Tame Impala's song "Yes I'm Changing," sorta.

With thanks to Ovi. Here MF Doom does for hip hop what Sun Ra did for jazz:

Next up in my odyssey through the music of MF Doom:

And most excellent (and often hilarious) it is too. Love the man's sense of humour. :=)

I haven't really given them a listen. I'll remember to check that out.
For starters, check "Goddess on the Prairie", "Middle of Nowhere", "Goodnight goodnight", "Oh goddammit", "This Town", "Aveda", "Harmonicas & Tambourines", plus the hits "Talk to Me, Dance with me" & "Bandages". get back after that to tell what you think.

I've been listening to a lot of Genesis lately.

I'm starting to dig into their catalog.  I recently bought all the CDs from the Gabriel years, and have gotten through Foxtrot so far.

But, I've also been skipping around my Platinum Collection set with the Phil Collins stuff, particularly Ripples and Home By the Sea.

Sorry, hbig, I don't know. Can somebody please answer this man? (I never did like Ray's "Eleanor Rigby".)

I just heard this (with thanks to Cool Cool Water) and it knocked me flat:

Highly recommended.
agree.  very highly recommended!

Played it again this morning.  The sensational Sound of The 60's.  Donny L matters.  Analogue, now in the digital world.

Love "Oklahoma Rain"  "I Live in a World"  "It All Depends on Everything"

"Hole in Time" - A Psych-Rock Trip.  "Black Magic" - the sound of Strawberry Alarm Clock.

"You Must Stand on Your Own" - a good take on Lennon's style in 1973/1974.  Don't forget to check the instrumental reprise.

Two more neat instrumentals:  ""A Grand Stop in the Best Direction" and "Begin Thee Again (Movements)"

Who are the people in your neighborhood? - yes, Donny likes Mr. Rogers.  groovy.  It's all worth your time - I listen to Magic Hero vs. Rock People
all the time.  Be sure to check out the videos - designed to look like the 60's as well.

I did----I assumed it was footage from the '60s! It's not? Wow!!

And... very nice to see you in this neck of the woods, Will. :=)

But don't let SWD hear you using that word digital. Grin
