That's beautiful.  Glad to see someone's pre-orders are coming home.

Give us a review after you've heard it.  On my Christmas Wish List.

One I recently discovered, and now one of my favourites.

Because it wasn't the final song of the set, they didn't say who the artist was, so I had to look it up afterward.
I enjoy these experiences even more than when they do say who it is . Delayed gratification + the thrill(or mild curiosity) of discovery = a nice waste of time

Agreed. They are also increasingly rare. We know more, sooner, and get into (ocean/deschanel/musgraves-hating) frenzies when we're not fully gifted everything immediately. There was (and is) some fun in slower, step-by-step discovery.

I don't really know but after a few beers it is sounding pretty good.

This will definitely survive the transition:

We Just Came To Party

Very slick, very appealing.

I still love The Shepherd's Dog the most--ranking it among the best 10-15 albums of the millenium, probably--but have probably unfairly neglected this.

I think the last one is better. I do not care for the false funk rock near the end of the album. The appeal for me of Iron & Wine was never really the quality of song writing but the particular atmosphere evoked by the recording/vocal style. Not an ideological thing but nothing since the first album has entranced in a similar/superior fashion. Saw him live and he had unnecessary sax honking all over. A bit distressing.

I really love Our Endless Numbered Days, so I guess I was looking for more of that, but I did not care for Kiss Each Other Clean when I listened to it.

I might be the only person on this earth--aside from presumably the artist and his producer--who think he has been improving, certainly well past those earlier recordings like Our Endless Numbered Days. I thought I&W was fine earlier on, but to me the fuller arrangements and shinier production were a boon. (As I said before, though, I must admit The Shepherd's Dog takes the cake so far.)

The thing for me was and is that what I get out of his music is not really connected to its relative sophistication. I am not perturbed by the change in sound because I was never invested in him in that way. The first album had a sound and atmosphere that is worth more to me than his ability or development as a song writer. It has an identity. It has an importance in my brain, he does not particularly. A selfish thing but a firm reason why I wouldn't pencil in the time it takes to hear what his idea of rock sounds like.

I don't think it's selfish, we all have to make those decisions and prioritize. There's no way to listen to everything and there's no sense in wasting out limited years in what we decide are fruitless pursuits.

Frankly I just went the opposite direction. I wouldn't have bothered with another earlier-sounding record, but Shepherds Dog wowed me. The past few, less so, but I enjoy his exploration.

I still enjoy some of his other stuff, for sure and I don't regret listening to any of his albums but I'm not going to ruminate on them either. I am happy that the first did it for me and the rest mostly didn't.

Here is something I hope anyone on that fresh Dancehall tip or just fresh beautiful pop music is enjoying:

Demarco - Wine Down Low

http://youtu.be/I6miNuKYB9E

Perhaps the best guy in Jamaican music right now. A hit machine. Unfortunately as with much of Dancehall stuff completely disregards the album concept but anyone wishing for a nice album length playlist hit me up.

Two other nice tracks:

Spice - So Mi Like It (Raw)
http://youtu.be/3yHmiixs3qI

This video is VERY silly and not appropriate for work but the song is up there with my favourite of the year.

Wizkid - Jaiye Jaiye

http://youtu.be/pAV4KlD86E8

This video is not quite so silly and is still a superior track.

You're lucky, it was closer to 20 Fahrenheit when I woke up. (High 20s, but still...) Coffee, indeed.

Fresh Raspberries is great. "If You Change Your Mind" is especially underrated.  Cheesy
