Captain Beefheart - Grow Fins, Disc 3 Beefheart was a mystery to me until I heard Charlie Patton and Howlin' Wolf.

first time listen all the way through (yes, late to the game)... I know people say it's not as good as their previous albums but I like it so far.

That album has a great first half. "Black Ballerina" is an interesting one too.

Yes, I'm a broken record, but I just love that album. It was a real highlight of the very good musical year 2004 for me. So solid, start to finish. A lot of fun. And it marked a major transition from the recording version of Of Montreal, going from more of a full-band approach as had been taken on The Gay Parade, Coquelicot..., and Adhils Arboretum to a mostly solo Kevin Barnes project.

I'm into Australian bands lately... Tame Impala, Pond, Sunbeam Sound Machine... These guys, Good Morning, I had heard of before from Spotify I think. Very chill music, perhaps some Mac Demarco vibes. I just bought their stuff on bandcamp and received a message back saying I was a "bloody legend" for supporting their music. Gotta love small bands. https://goodmorningisaband.bandcamp.com/album/shawcross

I'm very much into this Australian band named Hiatus Kaiyote. It's not on this album, but I love love love their song "Nakamarra."

^ I dig it. Awesome album cover, too. Listening to some Sasquatch bands right now... Ty Segall is pretty great. Also listening to Protomaryr; deeper voice than the falsettos I usually enjoy but they're signed to a local record label so I feel like I should get to know them. Plus, who knows, I will probably end up seeing their set come May .

Terry Reid, The River, probably for the first time since the first month after buying it (in its 2002 reissue form).

I gave River a listen too. It rings a distant bell, although I've no idea if I heard it at the time or later. The electric tracks are stunning, the solo acoustic side is less up my street. This great song, "Avenue", sounds so darn familiar----would someone else have sung it or is it conclusive proof that I've heard this album before? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDgLYlRGWH4
