When I started out writing, I had a few people (here, and elsewhere) compare my music to that of Burt Bacharach.

At the time, being ignorant, I ignored the man, but recently i've become infatuated with him.
My current favorites:

-Don't Go Breaking My Heart
-Wives and Lovers
-What The World Needs Now <-- "Reach Out" Version
-Reach Out For Me  (VERY BDW-esque IMO!!!!!) <-- "Reach Out" Version

All of it is amazing, just got the "WTWNN" CD and the "Look Of Love" set, I'm planning on getting "Reach Out" next.

"Let Him Run Wild" was a Burt Bacharach-inspired song, but from the Bacharach songs I know about, I can only vaguely see how LHRW was inspired by him. Was there any particular Bacharach song(s) which LHRW were patterned after? Maybe Wives and Lovers, sort-of?

I always thought the main similarity was in the lyric, myself. It's got that pained Hal David sensibility.

Love Burt Bacharach & Hal David a lot. I've got the Look Of Love set and it's so good, bar a few weird omissions (Like, I totally wanted to hear Petula Clark sing 'This Guy's In Love With You'.... of course I did)

Don't Make Me Over
Tower Of Strength
This Guy's In Love With You
The Look Of Love - sexiest song ever written
His score for Butch & Sundance
Anyone Who Had A Heart...

Yeah, essentially their 60's work. Him & Hal were so good.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?

This might be obvious, but I'd say "Guess I'm Dumb" was Brian's major Burt Bacharach move.

Busy Doing Nothin' has the most melodic, instrumental and structural similarity to Bacharach.

'Til I Die has some similarity in the chord changes to Burt's most "advanced" '60s work, say, A House Is Not A Home or maybe Message To Michael or Windows Of The World.

I really like Alfie.  Not sure why.  I always heard it was good, and the first time I heard it I really enjoyed it even though I never saw the movie.

My favorite though would be "Do You Know the Way To San Jose".  Notable favorites, 'Message to Michael" and "Anyone who had a heart"
