Okay so I figure "who should make music with Brian" is an almost exhausted topic by now but, it seems to me, who should write lyrics with him (or anyone else in the group, in either case, for that matter) is less discussed. Since it's always fun to be counterfactual and hypothetical, we could even break it down into specific periods and out-of-time collaborators and so on.

For instance, I think it would be amazing to see a late-'60s Brian write lyrics with Rose Melberg. She's probably best known for her bands Tiger Trap ("Supercrush"; "Sweetheart") and The Softies ("It's Love"; "Excellent"), and I think her lyrics would suit Brian's music excellently -- they're similarly plain-spoken and common sentiments of love, both in and out, as well as relationships but lack the quality that sometimes marr similar efforts by Brian: the gaucheness.

Who do y'all think would be good lyrical collaborators for Brian and the Boys? And feel free to include Dennis, Carl, Bruce, etc. too!

I don't think Dennis and Carl are available. Is Mike included in the etc.? Just kidding... police

My number one choice of lyricist/collaborator for the 2013 Brian Wilson would be Bruce Springsteen. They could get together at Bruce's place in New Jersey and work on Brian's Phil Spector/Chuck Berry/rock & roll album. They could write songs about girls and the beach and the night and cars and the river and the radio and rock & roll!

I'd really love to see him work with Bob Dylan. Or Paul Simon. They're both full of great words.

Robert Wyatt would've been a cool lyricist for a late-'70s Brian, I think. Or Nick Drake. Or the dude from Iron & Wine. As for Dennis, I think Fred Neil would've been a good collaborator, as would the Timmins siblings.
