Went down to Streetlight today to get my big 10 inch Surfin' Safari vinyl in the Pee-Chee folder. It was $17.99. Also picked up the "God Made The Radio" vinyl album for 20 bucks while I was there. Just like my other Beach Boys and Brian solo vinyl that I've picked up in recent years (including last year's  Record Store Day "Good Vibrations/Heroes & Villains" vinyl single and Al Jardine signed "Don't Fight The Sea" single) they will probably never see airplay on a turntable. Just for the ol' collectione. Just to look at and admire - you know, visual, non-functional.

On the way out of the store I saw the new Beatles Stereo/mono boxes for sale and drooled a little bit. Guy behind the counter said to "stop staring at it and just buy it!" About 450 smackers. 20 each for the individual albums. I was gonna put it at the top of my Christmas list but I figured I already have the Beatles CD Mono and Stereo sets, so that's gonna have to hold me over for awhile. I would like to hear from someone on this board who bought the new Beatles vinyl to see what the differences are. I assume the standard answer will be "warmer.....richer......etc. compared to the CD's.  Yeah, sure.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Musta seen the stereo box behind the counter.  They have the promo display stuff out already for both.

I picked up the "surfin' safari" record at Terrapin Station Records in Murray, Ky. Got the only one they had. Made my day. $18.99, but I drove an hour for it, so I didn't mind paying what seems a bit steep.

I got mine for less than 20 and that included shipping, none of the store near me, even carried it.

I bought one but it cost $24 (plus tax) at one place and $25 at another.  They still had five left earlier today if anyone is still looking for it and wants me to pick it up.  Shipping from Calgary, Alberta, Canada isn't cheap though :-(
I still have a couple extra sealed RSD Good Vibes / Heroes 10" as well.

Pre-Ordered mine before-hand for £9.99, came a week earlier than RSD. Played it repeatedly for a while.

EDIT: Thought I'd bring my pictures from the other thread over for posterity

Interesting Point - inside the gatefold it says 'From HERE To Back Again' - back cover has the correct spelling.

Same here only I've not had chance to open and play yet… maybe here's a Golden Ticket within the wrapping!

Walked into my local record store at 1 pm after the madness and they had one copy left (and a copy of the Dylan 45) so I bought both.

So, it seems everyone is opening theirs and playing it. Thought about keeping my copy sealed up, is that crazy?

It blows the CD's away sonically a higer resolution for one.

I was able to score last yrs copy of Good Vibrations/ Heroes and Villains for less than $20 on ebay. As I mentioned earlier, do I open them and listen to em or do I leave them sealed for the collectors value?

Who cares what you do?
If you want to open them, do it. If not leave them sealed.
Mine are staying sealed, as part of my collection.
If you don't have a collection, there isn't any collectors value, because there are too many available

Geez, why do you keep asking about the Record Day release??  They're all over the place!  All you have to do is look; they're not hard to find.  If all else fails, get one on Ebay - they're under 20 bucks!

They ARE hard to find - checked three participating stores in the last week, struck out at each one. Prefer to shop locally, ebay is a last resort. Sorry this pisses you off,  I will shut the f*** up about it now.

Are you talking to me? I asked the question, because I thought it was a good one. Sorry if it doesn't meet your standards.

It's not a good question; if you need someone to tell you what to do, get married
