So in the USA, it's "Black Friday", where various "doorbuster" deals, "blockbuster" sales, and the like are trotted out and offered up to the consumers looking for such amazing shopping experiences. It can also lead to various riots, stampedes, etc. when certain consumer electronics are offered early on a "limited" basis, and some folks line up for hours in order to get whatever the blockbuster deal may be.

Without naming names, there is one music retailer who has such a sale, offering certain discounts in the form of coupons which you can print and either shop online or take to the nearest store location to redeem for a considerable discount.

For all of the fellow musicians out there, take a look at the list of brands which are excluded from the sale or coupon offer at this one retailer. If you're a musician, I'd think many of these brands would be familiar if not among the most-wanted names in the store's inventory:

What exactly is on sale, then? It reminds me a little bit of that old Monty Python "Cheese Shop" sketch where John Cleese asks the cheese shop guy for everything from Gouda Edam to cheddar, and they have nothing Cleese asks for, in fact they have no cheese at all..."Sorry, we're fresh out of that!".

I've finally gotten old.  I'm 34.  This year for Black Friday (several weeks ago, by now)... I looked at all the flyers, thinking "Yeah, I think I might go buy some cheap sh*t this year!".  So I looked at all the flyers, and not only couldn't find a good sale, I couldn't even find anything I'd want.  I mean I guess I'd want another T.V., but I'm not really in the mood to buy one right now.  Nothing that was on sale, was something I'd even own or use... and it wasn't because I own everything or whatever, it's just nothing strikes me as cool or useful, or better than the old junk I already have.  I could get a new computer I suppose... but hell this one works alright and I don't have anything I can't do on it that I'd need a new computer.  I like my phone.  I'm not really interested in any of the new video games.  I've bought all the music I'm interested in.

So I saw the sales and couldn't understand what the hubbub was about.

I'm with you on the gimmick though, that's pretty shameless.  They should have just advertised it as a killer sale on the 1 or 2 companies that were actually on sale.
