And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Just your friendly neighborhood Billy lol thing is: our own Luther (and he's a really generous guy, I can attest to that) used exactly the same phrasing as you did, in a different context.

Well, here's some hopeful (?) news. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours reissue is coming in January and was just announced. So I suppose if they announce relatively soon, that Made in California could be coming soon too. And now that I think of it, maybe one of the reasons that the box set has been pushed back: could they possibly be playing a few shows next year, which would help sell the box? Therefore, waiting to release the box until around the time they might get together? I have no inside knowledge or anything, but after thinking about how Fleetwood Mac is reissuing Rumours to coincide with their tour, maybe The Beach Boys are thinking along the same lines?

The Rumours set has me puzzled. I've owned a Deluxe edition for a few years… how will the new set be any different?

Thanks for that. Suspect the 2cd from 04 is sufficient - that new set seems like overkill.

Thanks for that. Suspect the 2cd from 04 is sufficient - that new set seems like overkill. I don't wanna hi-jack this thread and make it about the Mac, although that would be a bit more sensible than Oasis. But anyways. I think even if you don't want the box, which I don't think I do, the 3 cd set might be nice. I'm interested to see how the remaster sounds, and a lot of the bonus tracks do interest me. I'm most intrigued about the "acoustic duet" versions of "Never Going Back Again" and "Doesn't Anything Last". I'm also excited to hear "Keep Me There" with vocals. For those who don't know, "The Chain" grew out of "Keep Me There". My only real disappointment with the set is they didn't put stuff like the '77 live versions of "Station Man" and "Tell Me All The Things You Do" on there. They never released the Buckingham Nicks era versions of those songs and I think this is a missed opportunity. I do have to say though that I think it is great that they made the 3 disc version the one with the live disc and the disc of outtakes that aren't on the 2004 version. For once, the band/label handled something like that with some sense.

Considering the thing is rumored to come out next month, it would be nice to get something concrete about this actually getting released. Is Phil actually right for once?

It'll for sure come out eventually - but is the release date still aimed at (selling a million units in) January, or has it been pushed back?

The Made in California set is on track for release after the New Year. Probably early Spring. It will be worth the wait.
