Maybe time we lay off riling Phil… it's more fun when he can answer back, anyway!

This would be the ideal time for Capitol to let something slip out, just a word, to get us drooling while Phil's in solitary (hint hint…)

I hate to pile on Phil, but I was on Amazon looking at reviews of the Jimi Hendrix box set, West Coast Seattle Boy*, and I noticed a review by one Philip A. Cohen. So I clicked on his name and saw he wrote a review of Brian's album What I Really Want For Christmas. He rants about  And therein, I read this gem:

"...the end result will be that the commercial and artistic resurgence of Brian Wilson will have been ended by Arista Records' greed.Arista Records has ended Brian Wilson's recording career, but not to worry;there's a lot more Beach Boys audio & video archival material in the vaults, and Wilson recently indicated that he will permit further vault projects."

So apparently Arista Records ended Brian's recording career. The recording and release of great stuff like That's Lucky Old Sun and That's Why God Made The Radio were nothing but a mirage I guess. Honestly, reading this kinda stuff is sad though. I don't wanna overdo it, but it really does seem as though Phil has some kind of emotional issues. And where it was kinda funny, after reading stuff like this, it's pretty sad.

*In his defense though, the review of the Hendrix box set is super informative.

He mentioned in a previous thread that he has found it impossible to enjoy music anymore - he's just burnt out on it. My guess is that he just vents his frustration with this by irritating the people who can still enjoy music.

Though I take pleasure in reading/participating-in the rants against Phil, I do feel bad for the guy.

I burned out on folk music several years ago by attending every gig I could reach during an 18-day folk fest. Couldn't listen to the stuff for aeons.

I am glad that the release date has been pushed back until after Xmas. Here's a list of BB related purchases I made this last year:

- TSS Box set
- Stebbins' FAQ book
- 2 tickets for very nice seats to see them at Red Rocks Amphitheater (Red Rocks Casino in Las Vegas, not CO)
- TWGMTR cd
- Target exclusive TWGMTR vinyl single with t-shirt
- Mike's 50 Sides Of book

I make very little from my current job and need to make it through Xmas. Due to budget concerns I was unable to purchase these:

- Any of the Greatest Hits packages (I already have several of these)
- The Mono/Stereo remasters (those will have to wait)
- Record Store Day purchases
- WalMart Zinepack (still plenty of them sitting there in WalMart and only one new remake of DIA)
- Merchandise from the concert (my wife and I could only afford one draft beer and milked it through the entire 1st set)
- Those dvds (I'm trying to hold up for a full concert but since that might be an archival release 10+ years from now I might pick them both up anyway)

I'll wait. Last year TSS box came out in November and I had to wait until February this year to afford it. And it will probably be February 2013 when I can afford MIC box. Whenever I spend that kind of money on myself I have to get my wife and son something of equal value as well besides (you know) live.

In closing this post I have a question. Somehow I must have missed this:

If Alan Boyd is not directly involved with this box, who is in charge?

My wallet is also happy to wait till after Christmas for MIC.

Whenever MIC comes, my guess is it will be pretty freaking amazin'.  I'm happy to wait as I am still working thru the remasters.

At this point, I am more interested in hearing when "The Boys" will be back in the studio, recording.  They should get in there Jan. 2, 2013.  Time's a-wastin'!!!!

Back to the studio, boys!

If the release isn't further delayed from the January date, I'd have to imagine we'd be seeing something soon?

If they make an announcement before Christmas, people can prepare to use use the gift cards/certificates/etc they get over the holidays to use on the set. Ca-ching!

Yes, as you all know, this si the professor's focus too; they have so much more inspiration in them, I am sure, and even the rough  spots in the last few month of tension merit a new Brian and Mike song; I am sure they are pregnant with compositions and lyrics, and they need each other to bring it all to fruition. The news , if it were to come, they they themselves agree and are in the studio again is all I want for Christmas.

Ummm... no.

It isn't fun anyway, and with Phil it becomes really annoying. And endless.

The fun thing is, if the box does not appear, he's banned forever! Grin

How about... Capitol releases it (as they will, rest assured) but no-one tells him ?

You mean that he'll be listening to Hendrix with his cans on for the rest of his life?

Could be.
