Not to worry.  Apparently, Phil and AGD have gone over Reichenbach Falls.

As we all know, though, Holmes makes it back alive.  We'll be hearing from AGD before long!  Smiley

Cohen's gone. I will reinstate his account when the box set is released. And, whenever he tries to log in, he'll see a message stating his account will be reinstated when the box set is released.

BTW...nit pick...the word is actually supposed to be BOXED set, but that just looks weird. Old habits die hard.

The Professor, for those who read him avidly, has observed this precise use of the past participle, but I am not so pedantic as to have commented on others' errors--until now. Now go get some "ice tea and pop corn."

Pretty sure there is no getting through to Phil.  I don't think the guy is intentionally trying to give anyone a hard time; seems like he suffers from some sort of obsessive compulsive disorder.  In any case, I doubt the eventual release of the box set will make him eat his words.

Perhaps if we all chip in to get him a fork and spoon?

Agreed....if the release of The Smile Sessions didn't phase him, no way Made In California will.

Actually, The Sheriff has observed that either BOX or BOXED set is correct. And I can't believe I took the time to make this post. Is MAKE this post acceptable?

Look fellas, some of our postings here may not be purely productive or concrete in terms of advancing the information, historical, commercial, or aesthetic about the BB boxed set, but it's a place to go in hope of seeing some detailed information about a collection of songs that will appear one day and that will doubtlessly bring many long years of deep aesthetic pleasure to all of us, so let's all forgive ourselves for what some might think is wasted time and effort.  I take it as a break between the mind-numbing (but rewarding) task of grading papers. One sure needs a delightful break between tasks that demand so much focus and attention and brain power. I do take comfort, as well, in the BB community, so thanks to you all for this sense of unity and artistic pleasure in the music, which is the telos of every thread, however it wanders.

I think so too, but he's not open to advice like getting treatment. There's nothing wrong with getting treatment anyway.

Thank you for your wise words, Professor, they bespeak an erudition and grasp of the scheme of things that is unsurpassed in academia. Perhaps not every member of hoi polloi will understand the deeper meaning of matters teleological, but with dear old Aristotle to back us up, we can enlighten such underprivileged folks and make them fully aware of the many artistic merits of the group of musicians this site is dedicated to. I now must devote my own attention again to neuroscientific problems, and brain porn. Yes, brain porn, and I did not coin this term.

I may be slightly off base here, but I have a feeling that the hysterical laughter lately heard wafting from the upper floors of the Capitol Tower was in response to Cohen's post about the box(ed) set not being worth "our" effort. I had no idea he was so intimately involved in the audio research, transferring, processing, editing and art work of this 'mythical' artefact. I may have to apologise fulsomely when I see the credits list.

Nah, probably not. :D

You mean:

composed, arranged, directed, mastered, edited, stereofied, and generally overseen by P. Cohen, who also wrote additional lyrics and spoken interludes, and drew plus photographed and photoshopped all graphics for this boxed set to end all boxed sets?

Could be. It's the Beach Boys, you know.
