Capitol is now a subsidiary of Universal. There have been a number of mitigating  factors, including changes in some of the company staff overseeing product from The Beach Boys. Second, as anyone who has worked on a boxed sets already knows, it is a challenge to get group consensus as to what material will comprise such a set. The Pet sounds Set is an example of that. The Smile Box was relatively on schedule by comparison, which is often the exception rather than the rule. Ownership of some of the material may be an issue, as is finding best quality source tapes.

When you took your leave, for a while there we had a fairly normal thread with discussion about the MUSIC that would be on this set, anticipation about WHEN it would come out, and not IF.

You have the gift of being able to have a collection of fine music, like so many of us here, so go enjoy it. Why can't you just post here about your favorite Beach Boys music? You couldn't even answer the question posed above somewhere - let's have it - what's your favorite song on Sunflower, and why? How does this music make you feel? THAT'S what it's all about, not posting insanely stupid missives at Capitol like they owe you a favor.

It doesn't mean that it's not happening. It has already been said that one of the reasons why it's delayed it's because the tracklist is still in progress.

Exactly. The thing is coming out, and a lot sooner than you''d realize (or care to believe). This is the same nonsense you pulled with TSS, and more than a year later, you still have not admitted you were wrong, nor will you. When the box set is released, it will be the same story.

Mr.Doe, I'm appalled by your holier-than-thou attitude. Are you to claim ,that during the decades before the release of the "Smile Sessions" box, that you never bought or listened to a "Smile" bootleg? On the other hand, my motive was noble: After spending $2200 on unofficial Beach Boys CD's in the 1990's, and finding that the occasional bits of quality music were surrounded by hours of breakdown takes, false starts and other useless filler, I wanted to spare other fans from grossly overpaying for this material.

Of course I've listened to, bought and been given archive material - everyone here has. Hell, even Blooies have.. But I've never passed it on to a download site, complete with liner notes and cover art. Irrespective of any potential profit, said material is copyrighted... and as I've pointed out, you've not restricted yourself to BB material. Best I stop there, I think.

Honest I can wait. First I hope there is a vinyl conponent of some sort and that can take time to do it right. Second I trust my mind will be blown whatever the format as there are some interesting things in the vaults.

I guess my heart goes out to those who have money set aside and just waiting to be spent on this box set. As for me, delay = more time to save my pennies and save my dimes for the box set. I mean, I hope it ends up on Spotify but I want to get it in physical form as well (I get the feeling that The Beach Boys vault will not be cleared out because of this and so I think purchasing this set will help give Capitol/The Beach Boys reason to release further b-sides and previously unreleased alternate takes, demos, etc. in the future beyond what's on MIC.)

Time for a couple of wishful thinking desires when it comes to the tracks on MIC..

In the category of things that I doubt every existed in the first place but would love to be proven wrong about and show up on the box: "Guess I'm Dumb" with Brian LV (surely, if such a thing existed I think it would have shown up a long time ago.)
And in the category of things that likely do exist but I (sadly) do not think will show up on the box: "A Day In The Life of the Tree" with Brian LV (even if its 'just' a demo rather than an alternate take)

I really hope will get some tracks on the set that help fill in that gap between Holland and 15 Big Ones (Caribou sessions, etc.) when it comes to Brian's voice. Hell, regardless of Brian vocals or not I'm just interested in hearing "You're Riding High On The Music" and so on.
