You may recall, that in May 1967, The Beach Boys' publicist issued a statement telling the fans that "Smile" had been "scrapped". If the "Made in California" box set has also been "scrapped", do you guys think that The Beach Boys, Brother Records or Capitol Records should openly tell the fans? You DO know(don't you?)  that , as of mid-December, that the "Wall of Secrecy" has been in effect for ONE YEAR. It doesn't seem that The Beach Boys, Capitol Records or Brother records have any respect for the thousands of people who would have wanted to buy this (mythical?) CD box set.

I have a theory.

Andrew G. Doe and Phil Cohen are one and the same person.

Complex case of Multiple Personality Syndrome.

AGD needs Cohen like Holmes needs Moriarty.

Andrew secretly likes Phil 'Prophet of Doom' Cohen.

Because it's himself.

Any thoughts on this admittedly brilliant hypothesis?

Andrew G. Doe-hen?

Damn, I forgot to look at the name of the poster. I read the post half through when I realized this must be Phil Cohen. And it was.

Usually I don't bother reading his paranoid ramblings.

Yep, because if there's one thing that absolutely *screams* "Wall of Secrecy" it's issuing multiple press releases, going on a worldwide tour, making multiple TV specials, radio appearances and DVD releases, releasing a new album and having a gigantic publicity campaign.

The bottom line: The Beach Boys & Capitol Records let down the fans: they didn't come through with the "Career-Spanning" box set that was promised(for 2012) in a December 2011 press statement issued by Capitol Records. Capitol Records & the Beach Boys failed to deliver the goods. There are no excuses for this failure.

Yawn..... Phil is just trolling at this point, everybody keeps pointing out hints that the box is a reality and Phil ignores them.

Said this before, and I'll say it again - so this is the first ever title in the history of the recorded music industry not to be released on the originally announced date ?  Nothing like this has ever happened before ? Everevereverevevrever ?

I'll come clean - it's my fault: I got on to my buddies in the tower, and at BRI and asked them to delay the box until next year. Of course, they asked me why, and I said "well, no better reason than I really, really, really want to piss off Phil Cohen: he'll have 57 blue fits and the real fans won't mind that much", and know what ? They all said "Cohen ? Hell, yes !!"

It also bothers me that Capitol didn't give an announcement when they decided to scrap The Smile Sessions box, and then proceeded to release the box to cover up their decision not to release it.  That Wall of Secrecy sure is diabolical.

Yes those gosh-darn Beach Boys and the uber-evil Capitol Records have really let us down in 2012, what with that 74 date world tour, the zinepak, first studio album for 20 years, reissue of 12 albums with some being in stereo for the first ever time, two new greatest hits sets, Doin' It Again DVD, Live in Concert: 50th Anniversary DVD...
