I wonder what 1964-Brian would say if he heard GIOMH, especially his vocals on 'Fairy Tale'...

Playing 1964-Brian any of his vocals from the mid-70's onward would probably elicit a confused reaction, to put it mildly.

Mike would tell his younger self to invest in Rogaine and join the Hair Club for Men. (Too easy!)

Mike will kill off the other Beach Boys of 2012, then gain respect from the other Beach Boys by standing up to Murray in 1962. They hire Mike as the manager, and he tells them to stick to the formula. They then become a vegas act by 1968. Endless Summer never comes out. The Beach Boys are forgotten in history.

one thing i thought would be interesting is if the Carl of 1976 goes back to 1964 and brings the sheet music and lyrics to the entire So Tough/Holland catalog and tell them to record it in place of SDV2 and ASL. Would it have been considered groundbreaking if CATP and Holland were released in 1964 or would people have been like WTF?

Really great question.
'Marcella' would have been huge. I also think that 'Here She Comes' would have been a great hit too (so unlike the Beach Boys, but so good!). Later in their career, The Beach Boys would be credited for helping start the environmentalist hippie movement in California after millions of teens heard 'The California Saga' and started their pilgrimage to the West.
'Funky Pretty' would've BLOWN everyone's mind.
I think if they were to combine the best songs from both albums into one album it would've taken people for a loop.

If people weren't ready for Pet Sounds in 1966, why would they be ready for Holland in 64? But the reaction to Mount Vernon and Fairway would be interesting.
I wonder what the 67 Beach Boys would think of the disco version of HCTN?

People were ready for Pet Sounds, and they were also ready for 'Good Vibrations' in '66. The Beach Boys became the #1 band in the Britain just after both releases...and WIBN, Sloop JB were in the top 10, and GV became #1.
I think with the '64 wrecking crew recording those Holland/CATP songs it would've made for a great album!

Current Brian: Gee whiz younger me! Hearing Surf's Up again has totally flipped me out!
Young 1967 Brian: Thanks! So is there anything I could do to improve it what with you being me in the future and surely having more wisdom when it comes to music producing?
Current Brian: Yeah, uh just add like little moog synthesizers sounds using this machine here (hands over moog to young Brian) and do it to the tune of Be My Baby.
Young Brian: Hey I love that song! Is Phil Spector around in 2012?
Current Brian: Uh............................

Not as much in the US. The record company at least. Although, Sail On Sailor does have something to do with water. They may have seen that as a good follow up to Sloop John B. And of course, the California Saga fits the image. The poetry might have given them some hip cred.

I think they would have mixed reactions later, after all of them blacking out for a minute or 3. F.ex., Al & Carl would be against it, Bruce & Mike for it & Brian would stand in the medium (c). Or be indifferent.
They probably would've assumed that it was the music of the future. Correctly so, I might add.

Actually, I think Brian would go to 1966 and give himself a laptop loaded with pro-tools so that SMiLE is easier to make..
He should be sure to take Darian with him, though.

Time travel's risky business. I was trying to go back to 1966 and steal the GV multi-tracks, and accidently wandered into Brian's tent. Got too stoned, and we ended up rolling a joint using the actual Smile tracklisting. That list? It was my handwriting.
Sorry all.

While Brian warns himself about Phil Spector, older Mike takes younger Mike out to the carpark and hands over a copy of Gray's Sports Almanac...
That would totally be the case!

Brian: "Don't do the high voice on 'Let Him Run Wild'. Maybe have a few smokes before the take to get that Sinatra sound. Also, do another take on the harmonies for the ending of 'California Girls'."
Carl: "It's 'SUNSHINE', not 'SHUNSHINE'. I repeat: 'SUNSHINE', not 'SHUNSHINE'."
Dennis: "You're going to meet two girls on the side of the road that look like they have STDs. Don't pick them up."
Al: "Don't try to record your own version of Brian's 'Sail Plane Song'. You'll literally go mad trying to record the perfect engine sounds."
Mike: "There's guy named Van Dyke Parks. Find him, and then don't EVER let him get near Brian. EVER!"
Bruce: "Adjust your mic!"

Bring Dave back. Stay true to your wives (don't just write songs about it). stay away from smoking, drugs, and alcohol. when you start to change your style (in two years), change your name too. Release the album Smile in three years (and become even bigger than the Beatles
(particularly in America)) and Mike, calm your ego
