"Brian Wilson presents Smile" just doesn't feel right. Brian reimagines Smile, Brian gives his 2004 take on Smile, Brian updates his unfinished Smile....

Maybe there's no title that can accurately capture what this project does, but it definitely does not "present Smile".

It was probably just lifted from how the 2004 tour was billed. In 2000, his tour was also called Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds.

It does as much as Pet Sounds Live presents Pet Sounds.

Since Smile was never, in any shape or form, "presented" as a completed work prior to Brian doing just that, the title is perfectly fine.

We're getting very picky here. 8 years after the fact, this topic seems redundant.  Smiley

Or to get even less specific, are there similar issues whenever a stage production, television show, film, etc. is prefaced by the credit "Presented by General Motors!" or "Producer X proudly presents..."? In those cases the credit was bought and paid for and had less to do with the person actually creating it as it did with a corporate sponsor or financial backer ponying up the funding for the show. At least Brian did, in fact, *create* the work he's presenting.

Is there an avatar where the cartoon yellow face is scratching his head in disbelief? Smiley

You've gotta admit it's more catchy a title than "Darian Sahanaja and Jeff Foskett Present Smile".

Since Jeff Foskett didn't write a single note of Smile while Brian wrote the overwhelming majority in 1966-67 and VDP/Darian filled in the gaps, I fail to see the comparison.
