A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and put on Seroquel.

Since then I've only gotten worse.

My family is begging me to call my psychiatrist but I am so scared and nervous to for reasons I can't explain.

I don't want to talk to them, and I especially don't want to talk to a receptionist.

How can I call him? It's looking so hard for me to do it.

It's not hard, even though I know it might seem that way. Call them and get them to change your medication. It's obviously doing a number on you, but different medications work differently and changing them is fairly standard procedure, and not a big deal even if it seems that way (esp if you've only been on Seroquel for a few weeks).

But please just call them, ok?

What is this "life" thing you speak of ?

Agreed. Give him/her a call and say exactly what the situation is - and remember that when you feel anxious/nervous, you have several supporters on this board. Take care of yourself, my friend.

Cactus...I don't know you or your situation. I can just speak from my own life experience. I was asked to get on meds for Bi-polar and depression from my mother but I refused... many times. I asked God for strength to get through the diffulcuties I feel every second of every day. I know that I am the way God made me and that as a man I have to face these battles like a man. After 8 months in jail 7 years ago I gave up drugs and developed a strong prayer life. There is NOTHING in this world that you can't do.... sometimes our only obstacles are ourselves. I just found what worked for me.

Follow your heart and be strong. We all know Brian Wilson did it. He is on meds that work for him (I guess). One thing we know for sure with him is that his music keeps him going....musc from the soul. I think that we all hear that and that is why we keep coming here to this board, to share in that postivity.

As EgoHanger said... you have friends here on this board and elsewhere. Have courage and stay strong.
