95% of people don't even know the fuckin song.

And even more likely, 95% of people at a Mike and Bruce "Beach Boys" show also don't know it.

And 95% of people at a Mike and Bruce show don't know or care about Bruce Johnston.

And, that's yet another reason for Bruce to perform it.

If people are attending a Beach Boys concert - and don't know or care about "Disney Girls" and/or Bruce Johnston - then that's a PERFECT time and place to perform the song and give credit to the person who wrote it.

95% of the audience will probably like it  Smiley

At the concerts I attended, when Mike introduced the song and acknowledged Bruce as the composer, it was met with applause. The applause was significantly greater AFTER Bruce performed it!

Because Bruce (and 95% of people probably) considers it to be by far his best Beach Boys song.

And which songs written by Bruce for the group are much better known?

Well as far as Bruce goes I much rather hear another one of his songs than Christian, Scott or John cover another lead, although those three do an amazing job, Bruce is an actual Beach Boy and Sunflower is his favorite album so it makes sense he'd perform one of his songs from it.

Ages ago though Bruce did say that he wished that he'd never submitted Deirdre or Tears in the Morning because they did nothing for the group.

Disney Girls is pretty much the only song that he wrote for the Beach Boys that I've ever heard him say positive things about.

I've been thinking about this all afternoon!

For Mike's band, I'd love to see
Meant For You
In The Parkin Lot
All I Wanna Do

For Brian's:
There's No Other
A Day In The Life Of A Tree (alas, unrealistic)
The Suite (that counts as one right???)

(I'm sure if I kept thinking the lists could be different...Considered My Diane, but that crosses the line from unrealistic to impossible!)

Both: California Feelin', Roller Skating Child

M&B - Good Timin', Mountain of Love

BAD - Lookin' At Tomorrow

M&B actually play Good Timin' somewhat regularly. When I saw them in 2010, John Stamos sang it as a tribute to Carl & Dennis.

Smiley Yeah, I was going to mention/apologise in advance that I don't actually keep up with what's on the modern setlists per se.  Great to hear they've been cranking it, tho' would prefer to hear it was Christian on lead

Christian takes the lead when they've done it without Stamos and i must say he does a great job!
