We need to commission OSD to come up with a proper derogatory misspelling for 'The Beach Boys"

Plus get him front row tickets for the Waco show.

Is this actually true? I haven't heard him, but I find it really hard to believe, haha.
Christian Love sounds like he's related to Carl Wilson. His sister Hayleigh sounds a lot more like Carl (esp. in timbre) than Christian does, imho.

It's been exhausting, therefore we will be going back out on the road to do even more shows........ WTF? Dude, if you don't like having to let Al sing "California Saga" or Brian sing "Marcella", if you don't want to pay for a huge backing band and throw Al some scraps from the tour proceeds, just say that then. Christian Love sounds kind of like Carl sometimes, and Christian's voice sounds good. What does this have to do with anything? Bobby Figueroa sounds good in Al's band, Scott Bennett sounds good in Brian's band, you guys all have good musicians and singers. But nobody is interested in hearing Christian Love more than hearing Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and David Marks.
I think you're reading far too much into those comments. When the reunion tour was starting out Mike praised Brian's band in order to sell the tour. Now he is obviously going to sell his own band.

When the Beach Boys came to the NW this summer, the cheap seats were $70, and I just could not justify paying that much for one show. I know, one time reunion show, once in a lifetime chance, but seriously, I would've had to go without groceries for a week if I paid that much for one concert. That's one of the main reasons I don't go to many shows now, long gone are the days when I could see a headlining act for $15. I could cough up $20 for the Mike and Bruce show...sorry, The Beach Boys...but it would have to be a short drive. Just not that interested in what those guys do, but yeah, if it was in my town, I'd go. I knew the reunion wouldn't last, just amazed that it happened at all, and that we got a new studio album from the guys. That's more than I can say for the Kinks, or Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay.

I'm just sad to hear so much negativity about the reunion tour, seeing that it was so wonderful.
How about this: "We had a wonderful time on the reunion tour, and we're open towards more in the future." For now, Bruce and I are continuing with the touring Beach Boys, and we'll be able to bring our music to a lot of places where the full band probably won't ever make it. These are more intimate, scaled-down shows, and I think the ticket prices are also more affordable for many people. Brian, Al and Mike are going back to their own projects for now, but we have discussed doing another album in the future, and the doors are open. In the meantime, Bruce and I are looking forward to having some fun shows playing some smaller places with a smaller version of the band."
It successfully explains some plausible reasons why we aren't seeing the full band, it successfully promotes the Mike/Bruce shows, and it remains positive about the original Beach Boys. Why not take this approach?

I'm sort of curious what Mike's setlist will look like for these concerts.
Set 1: The entire Looking Back With Love LP
Set 2: The positivity set - all Beach Boys hits - no melancholia or downer Brian tunes. Mike lets Bruce sing Disney Girls if he's up to it that night - otherwise, he is allowed to take microphone fidgiting solos on the car songs.

He goes to his record collection, closes his eyes, lets his hand hover over the shelf, and picks a record. Then he plays that record in it's entirety.
For example, at the children's benefit the other night he played the entirety of Stevie Wonder's Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants.

"AP - Crowds were stunned when The Beach Boys took the stage in Des Moines, Iowa, on New Years Eve last night, and proceeded to play none of their popular hits such as Surfin' USA, Fun Fun Fun, or Kokomo. Instead, Mike Love held up a bootleg copy of the Black Album by Prince, grimaced, then proceeded to play the album with his band from start to finish."

"This must be my kids album." Mike Love said to his band, as they stared blankly at it's cover. "Yeah, my kids". Terse looks were exchanged as Mike solemnly extracted Big Black's 1987 punk rock masterpiece, Songs About Fucking, from it's sleeve and, as the needle hit the groove on side one, looked at Bruce Johnston in a way that suggested that it was, in fact, actually his favourite album of all time.

He has a *very* similar voice -- but he's not anything like as good a singer (though that's partly because
his phrasing is very post-1990s
).
I'm not sure what that means. Could you give an example?
