His comparative silence since the mid 1970s does not alter the fact that Joe South was one of the greatest songwriters of his time or any time...and one hell of a guitarist...and a damn fine singer. Brian liked his "Games People Play" a lot. RIP, Joe....

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

A great talent, indeed. Elvis Presley's cover of Walk a Mile in My Shoes is exceptional.

Worth noting that, that's him playing Sitar on "Games People Play".

Sad to hear this.  I heard once that he lost his brother back in the early 70's and that really had a profound effect on him, I hope they're reunited finally somewhere.

the next time you hear that song, think about him playing that Sitar, it takes the soul on that track to a whole other level.  Great songwriter, great singer, great musician.
