which is better or which is worse, Mikes "Beach Boys Medley" with the lyrics "Endless Summer Beach Band" throughout or Brians "Smart Girls"? both are pretty much similar except brians is more "rap" but basically they are the same concept...I like"smart Girls" only for the cool swooping flutes, but that's about it..your thoughts? (just fixed the title to represent the real title of the Mike Love song)

Smart Girls kicks some heavy ass in its own weird way. I love it to pieces for being so unlike them. Some of the inserts even work!

I like Smart Girls. I think it uses samples in a very clever manner. Just as good as The Beastie Boys.

Smart Girls has some cool things going on in the Synths, so I'm going to vote for that.

I actually really like the 2nd version of ESBB!  Smart Girls makes me very very uncomfortable, probably more so than any bb-related song.

"A Bakers dozen",there are three versions two normal versions and one with a Beach Boys medley (similar to smart girls) intertwined within the song, that's the version I'm talking about.

After checking it quickly, I noticed that there are 2 songs named as ESBB (tracks 9 & 19) & 1 - as Beach Boys Medley (track 7). So, did I understand it correctly that the latter is THE v-n you were talking about? And, therefore, it needed to write "BBs Medley vs. Smart Girls"? Or is it the 9th or 19th track with the song snippets? Can you clarify your info? Thanks in advance. I won't vote till I listen to Mike's song. Though I suspect that I'd choose SG anyway. Very doubt Mike can top this funny gem. Esp. the moment when Carl's beautiful "God only knows what I'd be" is followed by Brian's strained "Without smart girls" line. Not forgetting also the mix of childlike melody with rather dirty lyrics.
it"s track #7,I didn't realize it was called "beach Boys Medley" I got confused because they say "Endless summer beach band" in it..

I haven't heard it either.
I like Brian's re-recorded vocals for some of the songs (Don't worry baby for example). But that's it

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Why would Mike be singing about Al Jardine's touring band?

That's a very logical question, I'd say.

The Endless Summer Beach Band was also the name of Mike's solo band,  and Mike and Dean's band.

Smart Girls is better cuz someone actually worked on it and tried doing something "interesting" with it.
The work on the Medley from the early 80s could be put together on a tape recorder, except the tempo/vocal add on for Barbara Ann.

Now here's the real question: which is the best/worst----BB Medley/Smart Girls/BB Medley with Here Comes the Night backing track from the late 70s
I actually enjoy the latter the most  Wink
