Mentally, that is.

Like let's say, just for kicks, that I'm currentlly going insane, and I almost can't function, what beach boys album should I listen to to help me wake up tomorrow?

Friends came first to my mind. But if I was really insane, then Love You would make me feel okay about it: "Hey, I'm not the only one, and this ain't so bad."

Summer In Paradise

That would be more like a symptom.

Smiley Smile was reportedly used in a clinic in Texas to help people coming down from bad acid trips. Does anybody know which city in Texas?

I would go with Love You for depression, Wild Honey for anxiety, and Mount Vernon and Fairway for general, unspecified craziness.

Friends. But first replace the not-so-chill 'Transcendental Meditation' for 'I Went To Sleep' or 'Old Folks at Home/Old Man River.'

There is a spiritual healing in the Friends album.  It's not long enough for that very reason, IMO.

I listened to ADITLOAT and the whole pet sounds for 8 hours, slept an hour, and listened again.

It helps.

I do something like this, on repeat, ad infinitum, in no order: "Tree", "Please Let Me Wonder" (bonus if it's the original [?] version with alt. lyrics), "Love Surrounds Me", "It's Over Now" Brian piano demo, "'Til I Die", "Here Today", "Warmth of the Sun", "Caroline No", "The Night Was So Young", and "My Diane"

I think that the later posters here are moving things in a good direction...we can mix and match tracks from many LPs to create the optimal "Therapy" mixtape...

...but back in the day, one of my favorite LPs to put on late, late at night was Greatest Hits, Volume 3...seemed to have a pretty soothing flow to it (at least Side 1, at any rate).

LOL I've always had the thought that if I ever tried acid and listened to Mrs. O'Leary's Cow, I would never come back.

Find Anna Lee, the Healer and she will recommend Friends. I guarantee it. Even the cover art to the album is calming.

I think maybe the only thing more disturbing than that would be Smiley Smile Wind Chimes.

I agree, that's why I said when I needed a boost, not when I'm feeling insane Wink
