Short notice: the cat you see to the left is the best. Not counting your indoor cat who might have habit sitting at your left side when you post at SmileySmile.

mmmmm, speaking of RR1 making cookies, do we have like a cooking/recipe thread? A place to boast how good (maybe mediocre) food we make?

For recipes in general, there's a short thread over at "my" other board:

http://beachboysforum.freeforums.org/post1153.html

But why not start one here? Most people here eat, so it should catch on...

Tried to catch a mouse? Do you have a cat? They don't eat mice because they're squeamish (good for them) but they kill them.

No cat. I use a mouse-friendly trap and let them out in the bushes near other people's houses.

Speaking of cats, what happened to Swedish Frog's cat?

Went to the store; my card was declined; ran around panicking; realized I was trying to use my old, cancelled card.
Am now relaxing in the sun at the dog park.

Morning: Walked the beast and did a little work.
Afternoon: Big family get-together. Big family get-togethers are great fun but they can be exhausting.
Evening: Released the herd (100-150) of stick insects from the tank into the garden (after dark, otherwise it's munchies for birdies). Retained three tiny ones in case I can't find any out there at the end of the year.

Just kidding. Who was the lucky one? What did you talk about during the date? Music?

Sisters visiting for a few days. Always interesting, varied conversation. This was actually yesterday.

Talked about distant relative who died in a high profile plane crash in the 70s, then listened to some music of his we found online.
Then:
Zika and dengue fever, and uptick of yellow fever including death in Brazil.
Tornadoes, and why so many earthquakes in Oklahoma?
The nightmare of getting around Washington DC nowadays (one of my sisters commutes to work there)
The sadistic dentist we were subjected to as children.
The Titanic disaster, how cold does 28 degree seawater feel; John Jacob Astor's body was found with over 2000 US dollars in pockets
A discussion of Dickens and Wodehouse
Volunteer experiences - one volunteers with Coast Guard auxiliary, another told of harrowing experience volunteering with Red Cross after recent flooding down in this part of the country. Maybe I could volunteer for Meals on Wheels? (Delivering meals to elderly)
Asked sister when she started present job -1999- then listened to Amish Paradise where they "partied like it's 1699". Then I listened to an old 1923 song, Old King Tut.
Then discussion of 1963 submarine disaster, The Thresher, which I was too young to remember. However remembered very well the horrific 2000 Kursk disaster.
Looking at this, some conversation was somber, but there were also lots of silly jokes. More to come today.

A guy walked up to me and handed me a leaflet. It was a "missing girl" notice. I asked a few questions and the guy was her dad and she disappeared just a couple of weeks ago and his voice and face just devastated me. I burst in to tears, which is hardly what he needed. My god, that anonymous news story hits home when the person is a human right in front of you.

Where'd you see them?  Unfortunately, the Book of Souls tour is not coming near me.

I see Mr Ewasko went missing almost six years ago. I have your blog bookmarked to learn more...
