I didn't do much today.

My trusty iPhone 4S, however, after 3 years, has finally died for good... I'm pretty sure...
I think I need an alternative alarm so I can wake up for finals...

Checked the flooding reports for the nearby interstates. Thankfully the river has crested so should be able to travel tomorrow.

Kept my Australian Shepherd away from a neighbor's chicken who flew into our backyard.

Got to page 200 of Dickens' Pickwick Papers (which means only 600 pages to go)

Read article about whether fitness guy Richard Simmons is being 'controlled' and not able to see friends. Article made mention of Brian/Landy

Good luck with those finals, u-m.

As for me, I spent a pleasant break from work replenishing the supply of ivy in the stick insect tank (while listening to The Agent Intellect, as it happens). The new brood of beasts arrived recently and the place is crawling with them (the tank, not the house). Once the weather warms up sufficiently, out they all go onto the hedge for a relatively carefree summer in the back garden. I usually retain three small ones in case I can't find three in the garden at summer's end (although I have seen them around as late as December). Small pleasures...

Thank you! I got pretty decent grades, and did way better in physics this quarter than last quarter. And now I'm done with physics Smiley.

Also, +1 for listening to Protomartyr. I apologize for stealing Bubs' thunder...

Today I went on a run, went to class, and bought black shoes. My life is not exciting... I'm supposed to go to a house show tomorrow, so that'll be fun.

Hunkered down now, not able to travel anywhere due to the "toad strangler" (extremely heavy rain) we had a couple of hours ago.

Our street is flooded and the water is only very slowly going down.

We have tickets to opera tomorrow afternoon (Madame Butterfly) so hope all the water drains off.

Had incredibly beautiful weather today.

Saw Madame Butterfly. We were weeping almost from the beginning - 'Butterfly', fly away while you can!
Are there any other Americans depicted in 'classic' opera? Hate to think the only one is that Piece of Garbage Pinkerton!

Well, a toga party that I was planning with two friends was cancelled today, as we were unable to locate a suitable venue.

Originally we were going to have it at my friend's place, but after he kept saying "sure", "no problem, don't worry about it" and all that, and after I had begun inviting people, he then backtracked saying that he's not allowed to have it at his place. Now I'm stuck in the embarrassing position where I have to tell all those that I invited that it's been cancelled. Such is life....

He didn't frame me, but he turned out to be hopelessly incompetent. He kept insisting that we were allowed to have it at his place, said not to worry about it, then suddenly said that he found out he actually wasn't.
