DVD from the current live tour?

I was lucky to see their show in Gothenburg, Sweden. Would love to buy a DVD from one of their concerts. Haven't seen any announcements. Has any show been filmed?

But those are not all. There seem to be many shows of the current tour that were filmed

As news of new Beach Boys releases are forthcoming I don't see the need to post old topic threads. Same old, same old. People are looking for NEW information.
I say watch the board for new information. Updates on new releases will be posted. A DVD release of the current tour will be announced later this year. It's been a fantastic year for us Beach Boy fans all around the world!

A ONE hour DVD? Inclusive? Come on!? I need an hour just for an INTRODUCTION piece. A couple more hours of background and interviews, and a three hour concert recording featuring ALL of the songs played on the tour.
I mean, what less would even suffice?

Well, there's no way you'll get that. The cost would be prohibitive.
That said, the DVD linked above is of the PBS special from earlier this year. Some people have stated (though I'm not sure on what basis) that there will be a separate tour DVD as well. That might be closer to what you want, though I very much doubt it would be anything like what you describe.

It was stated on Mike, Brian, and Al's official facebook pages that a DVD of the Red Rocks concert was in the works.

What I don't get is why they are releasing that one hour DVD by itself in the first place. If they are planning on also putting out a DVD of the entire show, why not just combine both releases together? It just seems a little redundant.

There seems to be a new special in the works, according to a director on the road with the band. Someone posted about it after conversations with him.
This, presumably, will include the Red Rocks material.
From the sound of it, though, the upcoming special will
not
be a full concert, feature all the songs, or even feature full versions of the songs it does include.

And for those who say a full-length DVD is inevitable, etc. -- I'd like to point out that we have
never
gotten a full length DVD release of any of BW's live shows, and they have filmed
several
of them. We haven't even seen the live debut of Smile.

Yeah but we
did
get a Smile DVD, nevertheless. And a TLOS DVD. How does us not getting the debut of Smile equal us not getting a full concert DVD from this tour? We know you're a big fan of not looking into things any further than what is written in black and white but we all saw how useful that was with the remasters hoopla. A little room for speculation or optimism never hurt anybody.
Anyway, I won't expect this release to interfere with the next DVD they're releasing. I don't see them filming 3 full shows only to use bits and pieces of them in yet ANOTHER documentary/diary style product. But I suppose we'll see...

There will be a live CD/DVD from this tour, I'd bet the farm on it. How live it truly will be is up for debate.

"This will definitely not be a full concert kind of deal, but more like everything else we've been seeing - something between a memento, a promo, a scrapbook, and a celebration of/testimonial to this great band on their 50th anniversary reunion, etc."
This is from someone who knows the producer and director of the project. Now, it may well change, but that seemed pretty straightforward to me.

That last quote was from me. I just checked with a close friend of our old high school mate (producer David Levy) and this friend replied:
"I think it's a composite as Marc Bennett is following the band all over the states and Europe. But I can ask him to make sure that he includes at least some of the Red Rock show...
Marc is the Director."
The only actual source I've seen for a forthcoming DVD of the Red Rocks show was that MSN social blog (
http://social.entertainment.msn.com/music/blogs/scene-and-heard-blogpost.aspx?post=36a652ee-5afa-4508-a779-f8f7eb051041
), which was tagged on the Facebook pages of Al, etc.

Again, at the Red Rocks gig at least, the director and assistant producer were spending a great deal of time interviewing various fans for semi-directed testimonials, asking leading questions about their relationship with the band over the years, what would you say to them, etc. Doesn't sound like bonus materials for a single live DVD event, but much more like what I described above (Brian Wilson ON TOUR, etc.) - part testimonial from fans, part travelogue (world-wide love for the band evidence) backstage and banter footage with the band members and Boys, and a composite of several songs (that will probably get interrupted somewhere in the tag or the applause to make way for overlapping yapping with L-cuts, etc.). I would much prefer a clean, single concert DVD without interruption, but I can't imagine they would go to this much effort in recording the whole shebang and not use any of it...

I don't particularly expect us exactly getting "Brian Wilson On Tour"
"2.0"
with this next DVD. Sure Bennett and his crew have been shooting TONS of audience interviews at nearly all the shows (before and after the performances), but if it were a "backstage view" of the tour--I'd imagine we'd see the cameras everywhere the band went...capturing the excitement as they traveled the world (as the band's traveled from city to city, country to country or while they were out promoting the tour during interviews or press conferences, interacting with fans)--but we haven't.

Maybe it'll be similar to the Elvis In Concert TV special.

Umm...I don't think debate is necessary. I think the chances that we get something that's not cleaned up, sweetened, and polished are nil.

Tidbit.
This just in from my old high school buddy insider:
"Spoke to Bennett last night. He absolutely will include footage from Red Rocks. He said it was one of the most beautiful venues that he had ever seen. He was at the airport, on the way with the band to Australia . I said to him that this must be an incredible experience for him. He said it was unbelievable..."

That's great news; I hope we get a 2 hour compilation with minimum of intrusion or at least bonus features that are pure song, live and real. The songs on the Doin' it again special are great, but they are half live and half the records--very strange, so you don't get that actual feel. I wonder who will compile and sell things like the Rolling Stone performances, the QVC, the Fallon show, etc?
Like you, I want it all.
