A taster of what's to come, I guess

Why it's being released through EMI japan baffles me though, why are they getting all the goods

It may be professionally shot, but it most certainly is amateurishly edited.

Great find!  It does look more like video board footage rather than shot for home video release though.

I can definitely hear mandolin at the end of Wouldn't It Be Nice... but no one seems to be playing it!

My sentiments exactly!  It's great footage but as a professional editior I cringed all the way through both clips.  Nearly every edit seemed arbitrary and random, not to mention the awkward pans and zooms.  What I would give to have the job!

First off: It's still an accordian.

Second:  I meant to ask, who was that playing it (between Scott and Darian)?  Everyone else appeared to be accounted for.

It could possibly be the live feed from the cameras at the Bowl that projected to the screens on either end of the stage.  As I recall, the "camera work" on the screens were pretty uninspired--much like we find on these clips.

Nice find, Shady!

The sound quality is just so tinny and shallow, there's absolutely no depth to these recordings, heck they barely sound live.  TWGMTR is a mess of live vocals mixed with the studio takes.

Is it just me, or do parts of the Wouldn't It Be Nice clip look like they're playing a different song?

Could be related to a post I made about the Bowl show.

Wooow!!!........Is that model of the bowl some new BB50 merchandise?

Oh, heres something. A family member went to the show (had a great time) and asked about the filming. The tech guy said it was for a live feed to Japan. May have been a kiss-off to a live DVD perhaps?

Not only that...but part of his lead vocal also managed to find its way to the Sirius and NPR concerts as well. Pretty amazing trick!  Cheesy

NPR

(With reverb on the NPR vocal and a bit of vibrato at the end of one of the lines)

Sirius

(No reverb, but same vibrato.)

Hollywood Bowl

(No vibrato, but the *last* line seems the same as the above)

and...an audience recording video of the song from the same show.

Posted these in the YouTube bread earlier... TWGMTR seems a strange mix of live & studio. Segueing audio and video seems to have been beyond the editors' abilities too. I hope to f*** that any commercial release of this material is of a better quality than this... In fact, if the performance was really so bad that studio stuff has to be dubbed on - which I greatly doubt - then I hope it's not released at all! As Jay points out, Brian can be heard singing at least two parts simultaneously at one point... sheesh!

If there was a live feed to Japan I suspect a silver disc boot might not be far behind! Just saying...

Yeah, those two clips might just be a 'recording' of the Japan live feed. There's no way this represents the eventual material on the tour DVD.^^

Boy, gotta love Alan for his vocal on WIB.

One question: how did you find that?

Where is this from ? And why can't they just leave the original live audio ? This mix of live and re-recording/studio recording sounds terrible

And what about WIBN ? You can't even hear all the voices and the music mix is flat. Hope this isn't anything they will put on the DVD in this form

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Regarding watching these on youtube......

I just downloaded, or tried to download, the new flashplayer so I could watch HBO GO and now I get no sound on youtube, just the video.

I WOULD SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE ON HOW TO REMEDY THIS.

Has this happened to any of you?

What is the most likely fix?  I tried doing searches on this but the advice is confusing.  Is there a quick fix?

Now, to keep thispost on topic, I would add that a lot of Beachboys and other live recordings have been "doctored" to make a better sounding recording.  Knebworth comes to mind.

What the hell is going on with "That's Why God"? An obvious mix of the studio version (never a good idea!) and live, but what's with the horrible lag on a lot of the vocals? And a lot of the iffy audio editing in general?

People are jumping off the ship and there's no wreck yet.

I'd say wait a minute, find out what this is, and stop complaining about something that has not even happened.

Yeah, at some points I noticed the Brian's studio vocal coming in around halfway through the verse.  It's some pretty shoddy stuff.
