Another nice review (german again): http://www.morgenpost.de/kultur/article108477173/Beach-Boys-raufen-sich-fuer-50-Bandjubilaeum-zusammen.html

All the reviews I've seen so far are fantastic and mentioned that it was out of this world

Is it just me....or is Bruce getting shorter in every photo where they line up side by side? When Carl and Dennis were alive he was maybe an inch shorter than them and at least two and a half inches taller than Al, or that's how it looked. Now, in nearly every photo, he looks only an inch taller than Al, if that. Or is just Al wearing boots and Bruce wearing flipflops or whatever?

Every time Bruce tells a fan to save up their pennies and that they are through talking, he shrinks an inch.

It's the Incredible Shrinking Bruce Johnston. It's been known to happen.

I'm thinking we may need a new thread for this, with photos documenting the diminishing. It had to have started sometime.

I met him for the first time ten years ago. He seemed shorter than I expcted. So did Mike, but then he looked like a giant onstage.

Edit: I'd like to add how awesome the clips sound. Ass-kicking vocals and such an enthusiastic crowd.

I have the feeling that by the time they're doing the casino circuit in October, Bruce will have shrunk to the point where he'll be standing on Mike's shoulder like one of those little cartoon devils or angels...

Rocker I am so glad you got to see this tour. I think we agree on everything about it. I was even thinking at the shows how much you would like it knowing your tastes. Hope you had a lot of fun!

I had for sure. Thank you, man ! It really was a pleasure to see this concert, you know that !

Just a couple of pics I took. Unfortunately I didn't have the best camera. Most of them were taken during the first set but they're here in no order.

This is during "Disney girls (1957)". I thought it was an interesting scene with Bruce and just this single match in the audience.

During intermission

"Help me, Rhonda"

Goin' on stage for the encore. David was playing around with a bottle of water

You mean, you can't see the pictures ? If that's so I have to find another way but that probably won't happen before tomorrow or tuesday

Oh, one little thing I have to add about the programme after having had time enough to look through it. No mention of Blondie and Ricky. Blondie is on one picture but that's it. Apart from that and the essay it's really great to look at so many rare pictures

What a fabulous show.

Here some impressions from the Berlin Show I took, apparantly sitting just opposite of Rocker  Grin

Is Mike Love showing he wants to blow his head away? Well maybe he only just had a cunning idea what to have for breakfast.

I like this one with Brian waving his hands.

Audience

Notice in some shots there's a guy filming with a camera in between the musicians, so I hope we will have the Berlin gig on DVD. When entering the venue there was a notice that there will be filming.
He also was responsible for the crowd to advance to the stage. In one occassion he nearly crashed with his camera into Scott Totten Grin

One thing really annoyed me: When telling people I was traveling to Berlin to see The Beach Boys I always had the same replies: "Ahh that's , Baaa Baaa Baaa Barbara Ann.... "
Do the people only know this song in Germany? Why? They had a # 1 hit with "Sloop John B." in 1966. But no sir, it's always "Barbara Ann"!

"California Saga (on my way to sunny Californ-i-a)". No "Big sur".

@MyBrotherWoody: Ah, ok. I thought it was because of the pictures  Smiley

As I understood the filming was done by the O2 world for the big monitor outside the arena for public viewing reasons (without sound). Some local TV cameras were interviewing fans before the show. But I really don't think it was done for DVD. If I'm wrong and it was then that's cool because it was a fantastic performance.

Oh and unfortunately yes, Germany thinks about "Barbara Ann" or "Surfin' USA" when hearing the Beach Boys' name. And "California dreamin'" is a big pleaser for german people, too.
