Both top-notch albums, but as a proud Dennis Fan and the fact it's a masterpiece and one of the greatest albums ever made, and one of the few albums that are equal to or greater than fucking Pet Sounds, Pacific Ocean Blue!!!!!!!!!!

Love You, because as good as POB is I find myself listening to tracks off of LY a lot more.

With all these new votes for POB, how the hell is Love You still ahead by one vote?!

I voted Love You.
It's a wonderful, quirky record.

I've tried to like POB, but I just can't find myself really getting into it.
However, I do like both "River Song" and "Pacific Ocean Blues."

I wonder if it was Pet Sounds vs Party, Party would be ahead by one vote too  Roll Eyes hmm

That isn't even remotely similar.

Vote for POB, then at least it would be a tie!

And as I said on Today's Mainstream Music, Love You is still a great album, and Party! is awful.
It would be more appropriate to compare Love You with Smiley Smile.

That part I agree with.

As much as I do love Love You, POB definitely takes the cake; it's nothing short of a masterpiece.

Pacific Ocean Blue is a wonderful record but doesn't hold a candle to Love You - the latter is possibly my favourite Beach Boys release; certainly the one I listen to most. There's never been time where I've felt burned out by Love You,  something I can't say is the same for any other Beach Boys related record.

The magnificent POB gets my vote. Like Friends, Love You is an album I fail to "get". Perhaps I need to work on both...

Pacific Ocean Blue because of River Song. It's that great of a song.

Pacific Ocean Blue over Love You. For all the group's problems during this era, fans got two very good albums in 77.

I like three songs on Pacific Ocean Blue and I like fourteen songs on Love You, so I vote for Love You.

i just like Brian's style of music so much more than Dennis's. I give up on pointing out what I perceive as the fault's of Dennis's songwriting. I don't like POB very much, but Love You is one of my favorites.

It's a crime to compare these two. I can't vote.

I love both, but no contest. Love You got my vote.  Love You is one of my most played Beach Boys' albums.
"Let Us Go On This Way" is one of my very favorite tracks they ever did.  Top Ten in favorite Carl vocals.
Also, someone mentioned that Pacific Ocean Blue is the best solo album from a Beach Boy.  I don't agree.  Both Brian and Carl made better solo albums.  Youngblood Rocks.  I Love half the tracks from Carl's first album, the rest I just like very very much.  The production is fine to me on both.  I go by how often I listen to a record, and I listen to Brian's and Carl's stuff often.
I do listen to POB more often since they put out the Deluxe CD.  I love some of the Bambu material, but we are just comparing the original record.  Wish some of these tracks had been put on Beach Boys albums.  For me, that's where Dennis did his best work.  As hard as he rocked the drum kit for the boys, why didn't he do that on POB?  That's my biggest complaint with POB, he needed to break up the sameness with a rocker, or three.  That's what makes Love You the stunner it is.
"River Song" "Friday Night" "Time" "You and I" "Rainbows" and "End Of The Show" are my favorites.  But as with Brian's first solo album, the addition of the Beach Boys vocals and musical input would have made them better.

As much as I love POB, my vote goes to Love You.

But as others have already pointed out, comparing these two directly really is absurd. If it weren't another dumb poll thread, anyway. Smiley
