Wind Chimes is a great song but, as with much of SMiLE, sounds unfinished.  While the stereo version on TSS isn't bad, the vocals seem compressed to me, mixed way up front and a bit harsh sounding when compared to some of the boots.  And as always, the second section is LOUD and dissonant.  What I've tried to do here is create a more pleasant-sounding version, with airier vocals, a less-grating second part, and an added third section that reprises the first and brings the song full circle.  My mix also includes some surprises that you'll either love or hate depending on how much of a SMiLE traditionalist you are. New Version w/ Holiday Intro:

Notes:
 - Improved vocal balance of original mix
 - Holiday chorus from SMiLE A.D. 4.0
 - Contains less than 1% of BWPS

I really like this, but i feel that maybe to second part vocals could be louder, and the pitch shifted smiley verse is a tad off-putting, but a nice experiment. The looping 'Tear rolls' bit isn't a nice sound to me though...

But overall, well done, a very cohesive and flowing mix!

Thanks a lot SloopJohnB52! I can't get enough of Wind Chimes, so I was happy to see this posted, and enjoyed the result when I heard it!

Thanks for the constructive comments.  I improved the vocal balance of the verses and added a Holiday Intro:

Thanks SloopJohnB52. I really like your version - the second part has always been a bit harsh so this is altogether more chilled!
On first hearing it segued straight into Emeli Sandé's 'Abide with me'.... spine tingling stuff.
Not so keen on your second version with Holidays mixed in tho'.
