Pretty cool stuff.  I'm sure the language barrier held them back a bit, but that's pretty cool nevertheless.  I'm sure there's something we dont' quite catch like the three of them are sisters or something.

Unfortunately though.... my brain is only so big, so I dont' have enough space to fully appreciate Jap-Pop.  I wish them well on the other side of the world.

Shonen Knife were pretty well known in the US in the 90s.  Toured with Nirvana, got played on MTV, etc.  Not terribly obscure as these things go.

Of all the things in Japan that could make a person say "wtf", I'm a little surprised that all it took for NewGuy was a pretty straightforward, faithful Beach Boys cover, sung in English by a traditional pop/rock band.

Okay it's not entirely to my taste but at least they've given it their own arrangement and not tried for a note-for-note duplication as many others always seem to do:

This Could Be The Night - Harry Nilsson composition
It's about the last JAPANESE cover, but I give also some other versions:

youtu.be/uU7FHLYsJN8 Harry Nilsson (demo?)

youtu.be/CMvVpM8ub_c   Modern Folk Quartet (Recorded: Gold star Studios, October,1965)

youtu.be/bZaVHqDDyKI   Brian Wilson (1995)

youtu.be/fz-aD-S_Mgo  TATSURO YAMASITA (1978?)

Now that I listen to it again, I think Brian might have borrowed some of the chords for his Let Him Run Wild, also written in 1965.

This is Our Sweet Love
played with ukelele and a type of melodica recorder-keyboard:

My last post is about a cover of the Rolling Stones song We Love You

I believe this mix is different to the one from the b#tl^gs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3NEUqz5S2M&fmt=18  Ryuichi Sakamoto with Brian Wilson on prominent backing vocals

& There used to be a SF television serie called Wild Palms that featured Brian (not played by himself) as a pseudo Sinatra type of Jazz singer in a bar in Kyoto. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Palms)

Now I see on that link it's an recorder-keyboard with wooden flutes and not a type of melodica, which has reeds inside just like a harmonica or an accordion.

If you mean "sisters-sisters", no, I'm not sure because their faces vary from each other. But if "sisters-cousins" - that sounds more real.

As for J-pop and other Js (folk, country etc.), I don't like any J. Not due to Japanese music is bad, no, this is not the reason. I just like English language more than other ones. How it sounds in speech, music etc. - perfect and beauty in itself. Imo English is the most cool- and stylish-sounding language on a planet!
Brazilian Portuguese is more romantic and beautiful sounding. Plus, it contains the word, 'saudade.'

Is there a cover version of Busy Doing Nothing in Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese?
I'd like to know, since I've just made one in Dutch.

There's only one winner for me - Brian Wilson's v-n. That is if compare.

Just a shame that Brian couldn`t have recorded a better vocal.

God must’ve smiled the day Brian Wilson was born!

"ragegasm" - /rāj • ga-zəm/ : a logical mental response produced when your favorite band becomes remotely associated with the bro-country genre.

This just makes me want to hear The Boredoms cover "Fun, Fun, Fun"

The early years Boredoms. Altho the crazy psychedelic sun-worshipping 20 minute take of "Fun, Fun, Fun" would be amusing too!

Saw Shonen Knife a couple times in the 90s. They were pretty entertaining...but didn't play any BBs covers.
