Would have been nice for them to be in DC for this one.  Everyone who's going, have a great time!

A televised 4th of July celebration concert would have been an ideal way to boost promotion of the tour and new album even further.

Pixel, what's this about a shortened set for tomorrow night's show?  I recall you mentioning that a while back also but forgot why they're doing that?

It's essentially a festival. It will open with a talent show. Then Scott McSomebody from American idol will sing. Then The Beach Boys. Then fireworks. Somewhere in there I guess they are including a fly over from the USAF.

It has televised to the US Military and their families all over the world.

I am all for patriotism and such, but when I found out what this show really was and that the Boys would only be taking the stage for about an hour, I was pretty upset.

Yes I remember now.  That's a real bummer.  I do hope that they at least pack the show with some good tunes for ya.  And hopefully they don't get Scott McSomebody to join them for a duet on "Wouldn't It Be Something."

Maybe they'll play "4th of July" ! I doubt it though.

Well....with a setup like this, maybe the guys will sing The Star Spangled Banner (complete with Mike doing "Oh Saaaay" and creak sound effect). But there won't be an Uncle Sam suit. In the old days even foreign folk like Mick Jagger could run around onstage in variations of the Sam getup but it is now an established law of rock'n'roll that only Alice Cooper dresses like the I Want You guy. Which is pretty much as it should be.

Fun. Pretty close to sold out. Scott McWhatever was dreary and sappy. There were a lot of dancing numbers.

Set list.

Do It Again
Catch A Wave
Surfin' Safari
Surfer Girl
Don't Worry Baby
Little Deuce Coup
I Get Around
Be True To Your School
That's Why God Made The Radio
Sloop John B
Wouldn't It Be Nice
California Girls
God Only Knows
Good Vibrations
Help Me Rhonda
Surfin' USA
Barbara Ann
Salt Lake City (as an intro to...)
Fun Fun Fun

Pretty awesome. Al sounded G R E A T. Everyone did a wonderful job. Brian also sounded awesome on God Only Knows

Yeah, he seems totally rejuvenated. Great to see.

Wow first show without Brian's white grand piano frame.  And no teleprompter?  Was it on the floor or just out of view in this shot?

The QVC and Fallon appearances didn't have the white piano case either.

And Brian doesn't really need the teleprompter (at least not for the tunes he sang last night). It's a crutch.

I thought about that, considering it was mainly a greatest hits show I thought he had it easy and maybe only did lead on "Surfer Girl" but they also did "TWGMTR" whcih I assumed (for some reason) that he would've need some assistance on that tune.  Good call on the QVC and Fallon shows.

Anyway, it's great to see Brian up there, singing, happy and confident.

There's something eerily transcendent about the way Mike grabs the microphone stand and slithers out to the front of the stage at the beginning of "Fun, Fun, Fun".

And if they did a teaser "Salt Lake City" intro for Utah...why couldn't they do "The Girl From New York City" for all the NY/East Coast shows??  That would've been sweeet.
