This might be the only filmed footage of the live Holland-era Beach Boys I've ever seen.  Blondie on vocals.

I don't know why Carl isn't singing lead but Blondie hits it out of the park anyhow.

Thanks for the info!  I was able to find another longer video from that show of them doing Do It Again, Wild Honey (in much better quality than I posted above), and Help Me Rhonda with Carl on lead vocals (guess they were shuffling leads all around at that time).  Pretty cool stuff.

Blondie's NOT a Beach Boy

He was introduced as one by name in 1972 and 1973, so...he WAS a Beach Boy.

Blondie's NOT a Beach Boy

That's right — Blondie's a BAND:

As the Professor and I made clear in another thread, there are seven and two are in heaven. It is up to each to decide who the other five are.

I'm surprised there are Smiley regulars with hundreds of posts on this board who have never seen this footage until today. Its been on you tube for years.

Heaven doesn't exist, so you're sh*t out of luck. There are seven and two who have become bereft of life and rest in peace.

This era of the Beach Boys definitely has its charms, but I've never liked the "let's replace Brian's falsetto with horns" method, particularly noticeable on the earlier '69 live album.

I'm also surprised that THERE are Smiley regulars who think David Marks is a weak guitarist and Smiley regulars who DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between there, their, and they're. Smiley

Blondie and Ricky were official members of the Beach Boys, it's ridiculous to argue whether or not they're "Beach Boys" or not.

I'm going to give JS the benefit of the doubt on this one. That is the easiest of all typos to make, especially online.

Glad you dug the show, BC. A buddy of mine (fellow Austin musician) went and sent me a rave review. In a word, he called it "Transcendent."
