I'm fairly sure that on Isn't It Time that Brian's lead vocal starting the song was pre-recorded.  There is no way he sounded as poorly as he did on the other songs and sounded polished for Isn't It time.

I doubt it, for whatever reason Brian appears to like singing the new stuff over the old stuff..

It was like that for the Gershwin tour, he was on fire for those songs then went back to auto pilot for the greatest hits (which were still wonderful btw)

Brian should be able to sing songs recorded in the past year with more proficiency than songs recorded 4 decades ago.

It has nothing to do with preferring the new over the old, Brian Wilson isn't up to singing lead vocals in a concert.  When they cover his vocal with other voices it sounds palatable, but when it's pure Brian it's more than rough.  There is no way Brian was singing the lead to Isn't It time live last night.  If someone has a video, I hope they post it.

Sorry folks about the mixup on the videos.  Was pretty exhausted after the long walk last night.  "Friends" is uploading at the moment and should be ready in about an hour

What is your frame of reference?  Have you ever been to a Brian Wilson show?

Again, anybody know who the accordion player was?  It's been buggin' me that out of dozens of people on that stage last night, he was the only musician I couldn't identify.

Urbanite,

Brian WAS singing Isn't It Time (with Jeff doubling) and NO other help (cheating) last night.  I had very close seats at the bowl and I also heard Brian sing the song 3 times the day before in Berkeley (twice at soundcheck and once at the show - I was in the 5th row).  I agree that Brian has his fair share of dodgy vocals and that Isn't It Time sounded very very good (almost suspicious even).  But, there was no funny business going on there, just a very rehearsed Brian delivering a great performance which does happen from time to time.

I loved both shows.  Going to Irvine tonight too.  The backing band is phenomenal and I have loved MANY moments from each of the principal BBs, but the standout has been Al for me.  Damn he sounds good.

I will try to formulate more complete and better reviews of each show later but I need breakfast by the ocean.  Life is hard...

I saw a whole bunch of celebs at the show last night.  Priscilla Presley (who was sitting with Jerry Schilling), Paul Stanley (Kiss) and wife, Billy Idol, Jackson Browne.  Pretty cool and they were all loving the show.  Jerry (who was two garden boxes behind me) looked quite emotional at several points with his hands over his face.  Priscilla still looks hot.  I mean really hot.  Both of Carl's sons were there too (only one was on stage singing though...)

Also, on the celeb front I went to the rainbow room on Sunset after the show for a celebratory libation, and ran into Sebastian Bach, Taylor Hawkins, and my friend was very fascinated that Ron Jeremy (adult movie star) was there.  Of course I had no idea who he was...

Jeffcdo,

The accordion player for Wouldn't it Be Nice was none other than BB regular  and Fosketty friend Gary Griffin.  Nice to have an accordion on that song.

Justyn should join the band.

(I noticed BW was getting into 'All This is That' in Berkeley as well ... seems like he perks up for some of the obscure songs. Maybe we're inventing all of these problems, and in reality, he's just bored !)

Thanks, Justin! Some of these videos are emotional.

Wow, time flies. Most of those Beach Boys' kids are actually older than when The Beach Boys did  Keepin' The Summer Alive.

You said it man.  I wouldn't be surprised if for many of us their parents are forever young.  Hard to imagine them with children who themselves are in their forties

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Justin, Thank you very, very much! Those videos were indeed emotional. What a great gesture to add the kids. Choosing Friends was just perfect to add to the 50 Year Reunion.

Man this whole reunion thing goes from great to greater. The Cal Saga band addition is beyond question. Man that All This Is That clip is mind blowing. Just check at 3.30 and watch Justyn as he lifts his head and eyes - scary resemblance.

So good to hear Justyn take his father's part on ATIT ... maybe let Matt J do the Jai Guru's instead of Foskett.
