Since I cannot rouse heaven I intend to raise hell

To be a bearded man the rest of my life.

I had not shaved since December. I had trimmed the moustache to keep it short and nice. I shaved the full beard last night. I look like a damn sparrow. I have the smallest chin and lower face. The beard balanced everthing out so well. I feel so small right now. I look like a 6 year old girl. I look ugly. I'm pissed. I'm never having a fully clean shaven face again in my whole life. Tons of girls told me they liked it clean shaven, but I can not live feeling this puny without a beard. You'll hear some say that people hide behind the beard, but I didn't. I lived the beard in its full glory. I became the man I am inside through my beard. I shaved it at 2:00 am this morning, I went to bed in tears. I woke up in tears. I went to school and faced the shock everyone had. It was a long beard, maybe two inches the hairs were in their tangled way. It was a rusty/red colored beard. It sparkled in the sunlight. It was magnificent. It will grow back.

Good for you.  I grew a beard as soon as I had a job that allowed it, and I've never turned back.

Good for you.  I grew a beard as soon as I had a job that allowed it, and I've never turned back.

I shaved it for a thousand reasons. Tons of people were telling me to, some were poking fun at it, some girls were suggesting the shave. It's almost as if my sense of self was in every strand of that damn beard, now I feel like it has all been chopped off. My Five O'Clock shadow is here now but stubble looks terrible for 2-3 weeks before it properly blossoms.

I am dedicated to the rest of my life being bearded like yourself. It's really much better if you can grow a great beard.

Do you have any photos of the before/after? As I have posted before, I cannot grow a beard, so I can't feel your pain.

Sadly, I never took any pictures of the beard.

I'm now trying to remember how many weeks it was before it went from stubble to substantial amounts of hair growth. I can't take this much longer, I look like an 11 year old.  :D

Do you really care what other people think? Ive dealt with people telling me to shave but I kept it because *I* liked it. Eventually shaved because I felt uncomfortable...but it wont be long til I grow it out again.

Sometimes I do care a lot. I get very hurt by off handed remarks that may have not even been intended to be bad.

I dunno...if your selse of self is all tied up in your beard, i think that's a rather telling statement.  I'm not saying you should or shouldn't have one - you should do what makes you feel best - but watch that sense of self.  Might want to relocate it away from something that can be shaved off, and find a nice tidy home for it in your heart or your head or your conscience or someplace like that.

Just a thought...

Ah, you think the beard has become an idol?

Nope.  I just think a more positive approach might be to have a solid sense of self that has nothing to do with the beard.  We are more than our facial hair, after all...

You do indeed have many wonderful qualities besides your facial hair.

Why thank you, Charles.  I think so, too.

Won't the beard conflict with the army plan?
