"Saga" was absolutely terrific, performed brilliantly, feel fortunate to have seen it. Really sorry they didn't do "Friends" which will undoubtedly enter the lineup soon.

PROVE IT. NEED VIDEO OR DIDN'T HAPPENED.

Oh it happened all right. Memorable moment, crystallized by the Northern California sun setting in the West. Strong stuff.

During Good Vibrations, someone came in a bit early on the "I hear the sound..." part before being doubled by what sounds like Jeff.  Is that Brian?  Definitely sounds like it to me.  If it is him, I don't remember him trying this before live, just the lower vocal harmony he does sometimes.

That's Brian, i've noticed on a few clips of GV from this tour he's been trying to hit that high part. Sounds like he got there on this one, if a little early.

Yeah, must be hard for him to hear with only the organ / light bass going.

Stellar job by Totten. Glad the guy's on board (and musically directing).

I love how Al grins at Mike's stupid joke in the beginning.  Grin (And BOOB has to be the most awesome abbreviation for a Beach Boys song title. Nice!)

I'm a terrible photographer, an even worse videographer, and a constant-dancer..... so cut me some slack on the quality of what follows.

Is this not the most badass shot of Al and Dave ever? I sent it to them on Facebook but idk if they'll see it.

I’m not sure how much people still want to see a review of a show from a few nights ago, but here are more thoughts on this amazing Berkeley show:

I’d have to say 46 songs is a pretty nice setlist. I already see complaints about a “conservative” setlist, but I have trouble buying that in light of the fact that never in a million years would I have thought that a 2012 reunited BB’s would play two songs from “Carl and the Passions”! Sure, even more rarities would be nice. But there wasn’t a dud in the setlist. I’d probably jettison a few things like “Do You Wanna Dance” for something more substantial, but we all have our personal picks.

The guys seemed really relaxed both vocally and personality wise. Maybe three days off helps, I dunno.

Scott Totten seemed to be really into it, and came to the front of the stage at the beginning to get everyone to clap. His guitar malfunctioned at some point during the show (looked like maybe his strap or strap lock broke?) and he had to hand his guitar over mid-song and sang the rest of the song sans any guitar. He must be a true guitar player, as evidenced by how awkward he was without the guitar!

Bruce was in full cheerleading mode for the entire concert.

Mike still seemed to be reading a lyric sheet for “Isn’t It Time”, as well as “California Saga.”

Everybody’s voice sounded great. Brian does very little heavy lifting in this show, which probably works best. He sounded pretty good overall. Mike sounded shockingly smooth, as did Bruce. Al sounded amazing as always.

I’m firmly in the “yes, I can hear autotune and yes, it’s usually really annoying” camp, but I didn’t hear a note of autotune at the show.

The video screen was cool, and occasionally an intentional or unintentional source of hilarity. Some of the graphics they use are laughably ridiculous. My favorite was an image played during “Be True to Your School” that was literally an old picture of somebody’s finger pointing to California on a map.

Band seemed to occasionally turn around and watch the screen too, especially during the “Sloop John B” promo film for some reason. Dunno if that was new.

Some cool studio footage during “…. God Made the Radio” (new) and “Good Vibrations” (old).

A few days later, and I’m still firmly of the belief that this may have been the best show I’ve ever seen….

And the female silhouette that showed up in any songs with the word "dance" in the title... with the skirt and the knee-high boots and the boobs and stuff..... I'm sorry but I just can't take that and Al Jardine in on the same eyeballs.
