"Disney Girls" wasn't played...not sure if it was because of "Isn't It Time" or because Bruce's voice.....

To me his voice seemed strong on ASM but whether he could hit the high notes is another question.

Sure is.

I'm exaggerating of course since there were some major achievements in Brian's live career (such as the Pet Sounds and SMilE tours) that were so big that it would be scandulous to belittle them as "preparations" for a reunion tour that was never guaranteed back in 2005.

The point is, Brian seems more and more comfortable in his new/old group today.  He's seemed to have been coasting a bit since after Lucky Old Sun so it's good to see him engaged in his live performances.

Not sure what you mean by coasting. His best live shows -- ever -- were the fall '09 U.S. tour. It was under reported, and not booted very well, but those shows were astonishing, and the best he's done as a solo act.

That being said, I don't want to argue for the sake of arguing. After a bit of a rocky start, he seems to have really found a groove with the group. Which is great.

The Gershwin shows a year later were alright and this is when I noticed the dip in quality.  He did great on the Gershwin songs but seemed to coast through the rest of the greatest hits with very little sparks.

But anyway, like you said....it's great that he's finding his footing on this current tour with his old bandmates.

Nice ones, STE...thanks!

Another thing I remembered from the other night is that during "Surfer Girl" none of the backing musicians sang vocals...leaving all the harmonies to the five principles.  I thought that was a nice touch, letting them have that song just by themselves with no help.  Points for that.

My pleasure!  I wish I had a setlist to post...was really close to getting Scott Totten's copy of that night's set but the woman next to me snagged it--even though she already got a copy of the first half set earlier that night.  Siiiigh.

I think they should split the tributes to Dennis and Carl. If they are done back to back it gives it such a rushed feel imo

I'm actually just a little bothered by how the tributes are still being introduced.  Mike does an okay job prepping the audience for them but I think there is a lot of room for these tributes to be a major surprise for the audience.  "Ladies and gentleman, we have a very special surprise for you tonight.  This next song was one that was written by my cousin Dennis Wilson.  And we have someone very special to sing it for you tonight..."  Music rolls...Dennis comes on the screen and the crowd erupts.  Just a slightly more dramatic delivery, I think could really spruce up those special moments.

With the addition of Isn't It Time (and without dropping anything else), this 46-song setlist is the longest yet!

A lesson from tonight's show:  Brian doesn't like the beach balls bouncing around!

Brian spoke up in between songs and said "Could you stop bouncing the beach balls?  Stop bouncing the beach balls please...."

LOL!

Brian is a complete riot!!!

I feel so bad for Al in "Add Some Music".  He screwed up, TWICE, standing 4 feet from Brian, who seemed to catch it, BOTH times.

First he forgets the "Music.... when you're alone!" part and comes in late.  Brian stares at him, and just keeps staring at him, LOL.

Then, in that really strange part where it goes "At a movie.... you can feel it, touching your heart!" I always thought it very strange that for whatever reason, Brian wrote it so that they don't do the "Dum Dum Dum.... dum dee dooo" part in the background the way they usually do, they wait an extra measure or so to do it, while Al's doing the "And On Every Day! Of the Summer Time!"

Well, he starts the "Dum Dum Dum... ".... then apparently realizes he's the only one singing, PLUS that he has to sing the lead in a couple beats... so he switches over and hits his lead mark, and the other guys do their background vocals on mark.  Brian kind of looks at the audience and smirks a smile.
