Nice song. The first song I've heard from the new album that I've actually enjoyed (though the chorus for Shelter is very promising).

My bad, because it somehow sounds different with Mike Love i thought it was a transition part or little bridge, funny.

As for the live sound being the same as the album with the whole production.. well then, i just don't know what to say to that? i don't see how it could in anyway sound the same..

It's one of the least produced tracks on the album. Instrumentation, even vocal quality is nearly identical.

They were using the screens much more last night, I noticed.  They've added a whole bunch of new footage throughout the show.  During TWGMTR, they used footage of the guys recording at Capitol from last year.  Some footage was familiar from the new "Do It Again" video but much of it was new...I recall a better shot of Mike giving Brian a backrub!  Vintage studio footage of Brian recording "Good Vibrations" played during GV. More old pictures of the band as kids during the "Be True To Your School" montage.  They realized how much potential could be used for the screen and it works pretty good.

That's good to hear. For the German gigs I want previously unreleased footage of the "Ganz Allein" sessions.

Here are some of the Professor's notes:

I agree, as you can hear, that this song, "Isn't it Time,"  is great--catchy and mellow and not frivolous; it carries with it an urgency that fits nicely in the albums larger narrative of memory, desire, and loss.

But in general Jeff has been a prince in the shows,reverent,supportive and professional.

Bruce was a big star last night despite not singing Disney Girls; he sang like a monster on the new song and throughout the night.

Dave gets the award for:  most audible musical parts by any BB on an instrument; (and therefore also) most authoritative, "signature" musical parts from the records. He also learned parts for songs like Sail on Sailor, so he has dome some homework to play parts from the post Marks era--in honor or Carl, in part.  In short, Dave was the star for me. Hi microphone was out at the start of Hawaii, but they quickly turned it on. His guitar was out of tune on SOS, but he got a replacement mid song in time to play some tasty fills. the audience gasped in awe at some of the solos--409, I think or FFF--one of them, when the spotlight hit him, made us all gasp.

ASMTYD was a tight highlight;, though it sneaks up on you suddenly right after intermission--all of the sudden, you turn to the stage and see the BB in that historical space around the piano with Brian singing ; this was a great piece of staging and performance art.

Brian sang a few bits of Carl's part on Kokomo and sang all his featured parts majestically. he did not move through the changes on FFF, I don't think,  and was pretty ready to put the bass down toward the end.  Despite having my binoculars glued on the moment, I do not recall B and M raising their hands at the end, as Justin said, though I do recall the dramatic moment of the BB taking their bow alone, in front of the band, which was stirring.

WDFFIL was a major smash; despite being a cover, the arrangement and sound blew the crowd away.

I am 50 and was the youngest person among the 4500 fans (sort of).

GV was a major hit, as the sun went down and lights came on.

During the show, you could see the ocean--very touching and appropriate; I think only a few shows can boast of that view.

The show was not nostalgic; its magic was immediate, and its spiritual and artistic power was clear and authoritative in the here and now; this was not a TJ Lubitski PBS "remember when" show. People are not just memories and nostalgia but, as Carl had said, spirit.  The BB show, musically but also in the humanity of the men together, bound by purpose and love, touched our spirit.

Happy to say I saw it with my cousin, who studied with the Maharishi, and very much appreciated "All this is That."

Great photos. Nice to see Brian was feeling so good and smiling so much.  He wasn't moving around too well in Las Vegas, like his body was aching and tired.

Nice review professor!  I did forget about "Disney Girls"...would've been great to hear it...the acoustics were really great last night.

Being up front, I noticed just how energized Mike is on this tour.  He sang "Shut Down" with such intensity--I've never seen him perform that way ever.  He was hitting those vocals with power and aggression.  It was very cool to see that.  I'd have to give last night to Mike because he was totally on throughout the night.  He was dancing around more....doing a few more moves than usual...he was completely in the moment.

Oh and I saw Brian actually doing the falsetto part at the end of "Fun Fun Fun."  I've never seen him try to do that part but he was doubling with Jeff who usually does it.  Good to see him really getting into it and trying it.

Is it just me or is this the happiest Brian's been on stage since probably his first tour with the Wondermints?  As successful as all those tours all became, I think in a way, Brian's been waiting for the day to be reunited with his old band.  It almost seems now like all those tours in the 90's and 00's were just rehearsals to get him prepared for the Reunion shows that were going to happen one day....

Not sure what you mean by coasting. His best live shows -- ever -- were the fall '09 U.S. tour. It was under reported, and not booted very well, but those shows were astonishing, and the best he's done as a solo act.

That being said, I don't want to argue for the sake of arguing. After a bit of a rocky start, he seems to have really found a groove with the group. Which is great.

Bruce has been doing the falsetto at the end of Fun, Fun, Fun not Jeff. Unless for the recent shows, Jeff has been doing it since Bruce seems to be having some voice issues. But at the early shows Bruce has been singing that part spot on.

A lesson from tonight's show:  Brian doesn't like the beach balls bouncing around!

Brian spoke up in between songs and said "Could you stop bouncing the beach balls?  Stop bouncing the beach balls please...."  

I knew I wasn't the only one!
