I was just playing my Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) LP and when it got to And Your Dream Comes True, I noticed that the reverb tail of each section is cut off. Now the section theory is my only conclusion here, but there was some back up information. On the Hawthorne CA CD, they are clearly singing one section of the song only. This is why i have come to my conclusion - they sectioned it!

(I apologise for a very poorly constructed post - I was tired but didn't want to forget this!)

I also wondered about this, but it appears so. This was also the case with Prayer from Smile. Wish That He Could Stay sounds JUST like the section from AYDCT

Yes, on one of the albums (Hawthorne?) the vocal sessions are included.  It's pretty interesting, because it also includes a clip of them talking, and apparently Brian was showing each singer exactly what line to sing... he's giving them the note, and somebody keeps saying "No, Brian, go get the key!  Go get the key!", and he keeps saying "No, I got it, I got it!".  Finally, he relents and somebody walks across the room and hits the note on the piano... and it sounds exactly dead on what Brian was singing (he had the key).

So then Mike or somebody chuckles and goes "Ouch...."

He had done the same thing on "Auld Lang Sine" for the Christmas album too.

"A Young Man Is Gone" was probably also recorded this way.
