continuing my journey into Radiohead, I've been listening to this lately:
click on that, and it'll take you to a song I like.

"El Condor Pasa" instra by Spirit of The Incas:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7Fv5EQwfOE
I really like Simon & Garfunkel's version, beautiful vocals, arrangements (with that balalaika start) & ofc melody. But the Incas has ethnic flavor, very interesting.

Del Shannon "Red Rubber Ball"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLWXBVvCQ1s
This song's been covered by many - from The Seekers to Cilla Black to Neil Diamond & even Simon & Garf did it live acoustic. But what's good about Del's version is that the cool catchy drum pattern from the original is intact.

I listened to the song
"Touch" by Daft Punk
(off of Random Access Memories) last night, and I had a great time.
Thanks. Needed to hear that again
Reminded me a little bit of this - a past/current obsession

I recall poster "hypehat" was huge Spiritualized fan. So, I downloaded songs he linked to - & what do you think, wild neon sins? - I didn't like any! Not fan of Elvis either. The best rock'n'roll singer to me is & was Little Richard. I don't buy into "Elvis= king of rock'n'roll" cliche.

I hear it as "goat star", there's technicolor clip with goat moving about, as well as 60s footage with Brian Jones & Rolling Stones - the song's subject.

Not exactly obsessing, but I have this high, vaguely middle-eastern sounding guitar line in my head and I don't know where it's from.
If it's in A minor (just for convenience's sake) it's roughly as follows (lower case = upward shift, CAP = downward shift):
a_______ G# a b c B___ A G# a________
It's say it's late '70s, early '80s. The name Mink DeVille originally came to mind, probably for no good reason.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Hi, John. Have you used search-by-music websites before? This is the one I use:
http://www.midomi.com
. Of course, you need a microphone to use it. Soundhound is the corresponding smartphone app and is the one I prefer, although Shazam seems to be more popular.
Well, while I'm posting here anyway, here's a song I've been enjoying lately (along with the rest of the album):

3 kids sing song I didn't hear before by "Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes". They end at 3:45
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_wzgFylamg
Really like the melody. I gather it's Bill Medley from The Righteous Bros.? Anyhoo, I think the best in the trio is the girl. At 10 she's got such voice, wow.

Obsessing over is a strong word. I don't think I've had any sort of obsession for quite a while, which is super weird for me and it's sort of freaking me out.
But... here are some songs I certainly have been enjoying. There could be an untapped obsession (or a rekindling of one) in any of these:
"Moonlight on the River"
- Mac Demarco.
A 7-minute long song from boring old Mac? Yeah, he changes things up on this album just a tiny bit, and this song best exemplifies it. (Sorry there's no Youtube link.)
"Holiday"
- Vampire Weekend.
This is one of their most popular singles, but I didn't really realize what it was about until recently (something about the US invading Iraq and a girl going vegetarian because of war). Also, there's a
Dr. Strangelove
and a font size reference all wrapped up in a few silly lyrics. I need new music from them, and soon, because I love this sh*t.
"Every Little Thing"
- The Beatles.
Again, not obsessing over this song, but I've never considered myself to be a huge Beatles fan. I started listening to
Beatles for Sale
a bit more recently, and there are some nice tunes on there. It's been kinda fun to look through the Survivor thread for that album. I don't think I have the knowledge to participate in any of them, but I look forward to maybe reading them more in the future.
"PRIDE."
- Kendrick Lamar.
I've also been listening to this album a lot, and I like this track the best so far.

Well, it is quite humorous to picture you singing and humming as you click and scroll through SmileySmile.
I can't really pick a song—I'll have to be more attentive to song titles when listening—but this band, Felt, is my new favorite thing. Incredibly hard to purchase their releases, which is a goddam shame. I'll have to discuss them more in the '80s thread.
Unrelated, but our roommate's cat has ousted my Macbook off my lap and is currently purring so much I can feel vibrations throughout my body.

Hi Mari. I'd never heard of Felt but I'm checking them out now...
Forever Breathes the Lonely Word

Sounds great so far.
Ignite the Seven Cannons
