Love this song. John Newman rocks (as does Charlie Wilson).

Back in 2014, I sent collection titled precisely as linked to friend via sendspace. Who liked it very much, said - loosely paraphrasing - it's feel-good music. This song began Side A (the other links in youtube play it, strangely, with detuned backing track & different middle 8, maybe it's real deal, whilst this link is re-record, jolly energetic & catchy at that). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HtO7xYZHfB4

This is my obsessive song right now and has been for a while, partly thanks to Lost in Translation:

Stevie Wonder: Superwoman ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-ohttPIqco

When Stevie's Music of My Mind album was released in 1972 I was eighteen years old. I remember getting home after work and walking into the kitchen just in time to hear Dave Lee Travis (DJ) say here's a track from Stevie Wonder's new LP. I was quietly transfixed as this gorgeous song unfolded.

Missed this first time round. I forget who the DJ was (it might have been DLT) but the track they played was "Girl Blue". I'd never heard anything like it before--the synths, the treated vocals, the rattling percussion...  Gorgeous indeed.  Roll Eyes

This one by Alyans is haunting me right now. See here for the relevant information.

Mayer Hawthorne - The Walk
https://youtu.be/gmfcYli6vV4

This song came out awhile back in the early 2010's, but I simply never get tired of it.  Great throwback to the Motown era and an undeniably catchy song.

Anderson East - All On My Mind
https://youtu.be/6X_JVqDnHvs

Probably my favorite current artist out there right now.  Like Hawthorne he has a bit of a throwback sound more akin to Van Morrison.  This song in particular sums up pretty well what he's all about.  A killer vocalist with some strong material.  Check out his albums Delilah and Encore.

Vintage Trouble - Strike Your Light
https://youtu.be/74uQpKV-efE

These guys are all over the place in their influences.  This song has a bit of a James Brown vibe going on.

Duncan Maitland
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_miA08SXGR_LYb6XlmhBi4nAIIaBd8x5Sk

He's been mentioned here before, but you should check out his whole album.  It's basically the Beatles meet the Beach Boys.  Also check out his more recent song "Heavenly Day", which captures the sunny Brian Wilson sound.  https://youtu.be/EYoSWMCqIPI

"The Walk" is so cool. And of DM's songs I really liked "Crash Position" and "Horror Stories".

Sorry I took so long to get round to checking these out. Maybe the sheer number of songs initially put me off. Grin

Thanks for sharing, A. Smiley

I checked them 1st.  3D Not everything must be checked by you, haha.  Cheesy Everytime I see people saying sorry for not checking songs, checking every recommendation, it really looks like smb. trying to be best friends with everybody which is just lame. Just select few people to be friends but this checking everything to get familiar with *every*body is just...crazy & frankly too nosy. Like butting in in every place where you're not invited AT ALL.

/kind speech Smiley

Back to topic, heh. "Meat Eaters Rule!" by The Vegetarians Ft. Vegagreens & Burrito Sushis - fantastic song.

OK, I'm not invited. That Alyans video is still haunting me. I should imagine you know of this band, although they broke up in 1990.

Welcome!  I really dig "The Walk".  Could listen to that song every day and not get tired of it.  Hawthorne has some other good songs but that one is easily his best.

I found "The Walk" to be snoozer. What should I check instead by Mayer Hawthorne, Awesoman?  Thanks in advance.

If you didn't like that one you might not really care much for him then.  You might like the album that song came off of, How Do You Do.

Still vaguely obsessing over Q Lazzarus. This is "White Lines" (nothing to do with coke):

I've only obsessed over four YouTube music videos during the past few years.

In the days when I used to identify songs for people at YT (before it got user unfriendly) "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis was a popular item to identify. I then checked out the video and used to watch it every night for weeks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK8mJJJvaes

Another from that same time was the outrageous Ylvis video, "The Fox":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_WkoCE

Later came this iconic performance by Future Islands of "Seasons (Waiting On You)":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8Uhf3gM1m0

And last but not least, prompted by my then forthcoming Russian holiday, Alyans sing and play "At Dawn":

Could 2 folks discussing classicals give break to it? These the other thread replies get skipped, besides the fact they seem to get littler & littler activity. Would like if they stay above level in General Music.

To thread at play.

Right now I'm obsessing over these three tracks, beginning with the most obsessive of the three:

"Battleflag" (Lo Fidelity Allstars ft. Pigeonhed): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bh-j4vVbTU

"Injected With A Poison" (Praga Khan): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2U1SJorwK4

"The Wedding" (Man Jumping): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-U672TsDw8
