What say you to people who live out in the middle of nowhere, and the only capitalists who's opened a store near there is Wal Mart?

I just rally against the constant need on this board for people to be snobs.  O.K., she's fat.  Also she's wearing spandex.  Also she has a tattoo of Bart Simpson on her ass.  No need to ridicule her on a  Beach Boys board.  Smiley

I always hurl slightly upon hearing a band selling something exclusively through fucking Walmart. Okay, yeah, it's some folks only option as far as buying things - I'll give you that. There's no real excuse for this sort of thing, though. All it really does is cheapen the reunion a bit further.

I hate shopping at Walmart, but I couldn't care less where I buy my Beach Boys product.  It will sound just as good when I pop it in my cd player--just like the last Eagles cd did (a walmart exclusive for the 1st year).

I dunno.  I usually find the best prices on things I'm looking for, especially cds and dvds.  And if you're one of those people who like to get on a soapbox about store policies....well you might as well cross all stores off your list.  Just sayin'......

What’s a ‘ZinePak? (pronounced ZEEN-pak) It’s a new, fan-friendly format for great music. You get amazing songs plus an exclusive magazine filled with original, entertaining content—together in one fun, super-portable package. Because great music is most enjoyable when it’s paired with an awesome read.

The other property of a Zinepack is that it can't be downloaded for free from the web.
Same w/ the T-shirt/CD combos.

It gives the megalomusic company something to generate income with when sold at MegaloMart or wherever.

"Just one of those people who get on a soapbox about store policies"? What, now?

And there's a reason you find everything cheaper there - it comes at the expense of many other people's well-being, from their own employees to the less fortunate all over the world. Of all gigantic corporations in the world in Wal-Mart's position, they're by far the biggest offender. Do a bit o' research on the matter, my friend.

Very cool but does this also mean us Brits miss out again?

You mean there's no Walmarts over there? You're really missing out living in a country that doesn't have Walmart stores. Like, really missing out.

Critics of wal-mart don't like it for several reasons.

1. they don't have a union.  This really pisses off people who like unions, since Wal Mart represents 2% of the U.S. economy (they're the biggest employer in the u.s.).

2. they sell things cheap because they beat down their suppliers to the absolute bottom dollar... they'll bring in a company that makes t-shirts, and show them a t-shirt they can buy in korea for half the price, and if they can't match the price, they'll buy the korean one.

3. their stores and policies are boring, cookie cutter capitalism.

-----

Personally, I have no problem with them because I tend to lean libertarian.  Sure, they make all their goods in sweatshops, but people work in sweatshops because if they don't, they have no job at all.  That doesn't sit well with some people, but it's still a reality.

I happen to like capitalism.  Wal-Mart has put tons of moms and pops out of business, but it all started with 1 man, Sam Walton.  I don't hate him for kicking ass more than anybody else has.  What wal-mart can dominate with low prices, they can't possibly make up with quality, so if a mom and pop has better service or better quality products they'll still be competitive.

I'm also against unions, so that doesn't bother me.

I'm happy to shop at any store, but then again if you can't stand Wal-Mart that's your perogative.  Just don't hold your nose so high that you can't see how their super-cheap prices and convienent locations help millions of American families.  Also don't miss how everytime a Wal-Mart opens it's doors, you have 50 times the applications for jobs as what they can provide.  It takes a lot of work to get hired at Wal-Mart, people are dying for a job there.

Some more info on the “ZinePak.” The other 10 tracks on the CD are, as expected, the old hit recordings. This also seems to confirm once and for all that the re-recording of “Do It Again” will not be on the actual album and is apparently exclusive to this package.

1. Do It Again (Exclusive 2012 Version)
2. California Girls
3. Wouldn’t It Be Nice
4. Surfer Girl
5. Good Vibrations
6. Help Me Rhonda
7. I Get Around
8. Fun Fun Fun
9. Kokomo
10. Surfin' U.S.A.
11. Be True To Your School

About the Album

This commemorative 50th Anniversary Beach Boys release includes an 11-song CD, a collectible 72-page magazine and three exclusive postcards. The CD features an all-new recording of the hit "Do It Again" available exclusively on this release, plus 10 more of the band's greatest hits. The magazine includes dozens of rare photographs from the band's career and exclusive new interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Al Jardine, and David Marks. The postcards can only be found in this limited edition package.

$13.88. Not bad, Jude. I'll grab me a couple. Good little collector's item.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

And don't forget that people that get jobs at Walmart can at least afford to eat Dog food, where the ones that don't have to live on the streets. And so what if more and more mom and pop stores go under, at least the Chinese and Koreans will be able to keep making their crap to sell at Walmart; heck, who even cares if all americans lose their jobs, as long as Walmart makes $$ and Ron is happy

Ron is a capitalist. Those who make more money than us obviously work harder than us. He loves Amurricuh. And he and Bruce Johnston are down at the country club complaining how that socialist Obama wants to tax their capital gains.

/end political rant.
