awright, great thread! here's my 2p. i'd have to say first of all, any guitar that inspires me would be a fav guitar. my first jazz bass and '52 tele re-issue (both stolen at gigs) were very inspirational. my current '97 amer stand jazz never leaves my sight unless its under lock and key. i play ghs brite flats on it. souper reliable tone, too. i have a '70 yamaha fg-110 thats set up in a g modal tuning permanently. its been dropped, thrown at me by ex-gf''s, had mic stands smack it and it just keeps on droning and stoning. luv it. my main concert tuned is a yamaha apx-5a. never moody and always ready to go. i'm still looking for that re-issue tele that sounds/feels right and think *very* highly of those godin lg's with the p-90's. just haven't found that magic electric yet. luv that strat, too idigworms. pretty guitar and great player.

Not a guitar, per se, but my favorite instrument in the world is my 1978 Rickenbacker 4001.  It looks just like this one (this isn't mine; it's just a picture I found on the internet):

I absolutely love the Danelectros.  I've got a convertible, but some of the vintage shorthorns and U2's and things are awesome.

No pic, but for looks and sound, it has to be Rickenbacker 360-12.

American Fender Fat Strat w/ Bill Lawrence Pickups.

That's what inspired me to start this thread.

there she is...

Two -L280 pickups on neck and bridge
and I can't remember the model number of the humbucker pickup (and I cant find it on the site either)

these pickups sound like a dream, totally rule the stock Seymour Duncan pickups.

It's been a long day, I'm tired, and ready to cry..."worms", I had one of those in honey blonde with a maple neck...forced to sell it...all three pick ups at once--VERY NICE IMO Sad  the single coils were a bit noisy, but NOW it comes with "Noiseless" pick ups...My friend Roy still has the white Rick bass he bought in '75 or so...plays in a country band with it !! Had a Mexican Tele Deluxe, sold it... Sad  Had a late 70s Tele w/Bigsby...sold it  Sad  And finally, had a 1965 Fender Electric XII (paid $200, traded it [and a mid 70s Epiphone semi solid 335 lookin ax] for the Tele, got $100 for it) There's only so much you can do with an electric XII, but it was my favorite Sad   Angry Embarrassed  Cry  Cry  Cry

Gibson SG.

Sure, I love the Fender Strat due to it's basic build and the way it can burn up doing some nasty leads...but, I'm not a great of a lead.  Starts aren't the best for rhythm or making full warm leads.

I prefer the Les Paul, but it rather does a nice number on the back because of where I play it in front of me, so I go for the SG for the almost identical L.P. neck, the 99% L.P. sound and it being much less awkward in weight.

I can take a little of the SG's clanky sound by fuzzing up the stomp box a little, which gives it, to my ears, a Les Paul fuzz sound.

But for clean plucky sound, I like the Strat using the 2nd setting on the switch from the top setting (top & middle pickups on).  Has a very 80's Madonna guitarist sound, but it's not completely bad.  Think of Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter...or Yellow Bedwetter, depending on if you love or hate P.J.

I can't pick.  What a ferkin dilemma.
