A lifetime ago, Jasper posted a picture from the 70's of Brian's sandbox.  Does anyone have a link to that photo, or to any other photos of the legendary box of sand?

Yeah, it was for some TV show or something.  I don't think we ever found a picture of the real, original Sand Box.

Here it is:

Does anyone know where this pic was taken? It's not the Mike Douglas Show and not Saturday Night Live.

It's funny: Everybody's taking about the legendary sandbox but there's not one picture out there. Sometimes I wonder if it really existed!

Isn't that from the Loren Michaels Beach Boys Special that had Dan Akroyd and John Belushi in it?

That’s from SNL. That’s when he played “Good Vibrations”.

I have long been demanding photographic proof of the sandbox. How can something everyone looks back so fondly on not be in one single picture?

Did he play GV by himself at the piano?

Anyone got a copy of this performance?

I wonder about the sandbox. I believe it existed, but it's so odd that there's no real evidence. Same with all the other weird stuff he put in that house in that time. No photo's.

There are pictures of the tent (from the inside, anyways) but nothing else...always seemed kinda strange to me as well.  I'd love to see the sandbox, the blue tumbling mats, the tent from the outside, stuff like that.  But the sandbox would be so cool!  There's gotta be a picture of it in somebody's collection somewhere.

I've wondered for years why no picture ever turned up.  I wonder if Marilyn has been asked?  Do we even know exactly what year it came out of the house?

Brian played GV solo at the piano in his favorite white suit that he also wore on Mike Douglas. The footage is out there if you look hard enough. NBC used to show old SNLs at 2 in the morning following the current ones, and one night they showed the Jodie Foster episode and I nabbed a top quality copy of the show, including Brian’s cameo as an (insane) airport security guard.

As for the sandbox pic, I think we should pester the admin on Blueboard and he'll pester Brian. They have to have a pic of it...somewhere...

Every single piece of film shot during the Smile period should be published (that includes video).

Any chance that the sandbox is in the hidden reels from 1966?

I bet the time was just too happening for someone to sit back and document it. That's why information we have is from hazy minds, like many happening folk from the 60's. Nobody sat around and kept logs of their activities, but rather just lived for that moment.

I wonder if Murry played Brian's piano from the Sandbox. I could imagine him taking to the idea well.

Could it be that the sandbox was too large and/or in a poorly-lit, relatively small area that precluded get a photo?   It must have been an awfully big sandbox to contain a grand piano.

The picture above of Brian in the sandbox is from the 1976 Saturday Night Live show. He played GV in the sandbox (I have the video). ALso, I remember when it ram the first time. I was 17 in 76 and I laughed my head off. I still think it was funny.

Didn't he have a jungle gym installed in his foyer, so when you opened the door, you had to crawl through it to get in? Or is that b.s.?

I'd like to see the tumbling mats as well, Chris!

Shocked I have never heard of that. Could you tell some details about it? What was he doing in that sketch?"

He lurks nervously in the background while a man addicted to metal (Ackroyd) attempts to get past the detectors. At the end of the sketch, the tin woodsman passes through and Brian says, "That was the Tin Woods man? I should have gotten his autograph!"
