Just a thought but rather pitch in all flags flying with a barrage of questions, maybe just get to know the guy first ? He may not want to be grilled for several hours over something he did several months ago and which might, for all we know, have not been as much fun as we assume. Just sayin'.
Yes, Andrew, I see your point, and thought of that too — but our meeting was his idea, and he did specifically suggest that he and I "compare notes" — here's how he worded his invitation:
Hi Jeff,
I recently saw "Deconstructing Dad" and I'm a great admirer of your work with the Raymond Scott archives. Thank you for everything you're doing to keep that remarkable legacy alive! Do you ever find yourself in the Los Angeles area? If you do, consider this an invitation to get together to compare notes!
Maybe he's talking general preservation techniques.

I would ask if he would ever will put some uncut rare Beach Boys footage out and also encourage him to do vinyl on some of the older nineties titles.

Could be. But I wanted to have some good topics at ready, regardless. Not really sure what to expect, but I'm looking forward to it.

Exactly! Seriously this forum is unreal at times although granted he did ask for suggestion.

Ask and ye shall receive...so goes the old adage.
This kind of thing reminds me of an ad placed in the local paper last year by a pet rescue group looking for newspapers to make bedding and whatnot for the animals. A few days after the initial ad they must have gotten bombarded with newspapers at their facility because they placed another ad asking that no more papers be dropped off...thanks for the donations but we're overwhelmed!
I knew it would be overwhelming with suggestions pouring in (my own included) but it's a chance for people here to voice some ideas and suggestions which otherwise would probably not reach the right ears.

Ask about what´s coming up! We´ve heard enough about SMiLE now from all the radioshows and other media.
What´s in the pipeline?
Deluxe editions of every album?
Smiley Smile stereo remix?
The boxset?

To judge from the majority of the posts here, there will be no next question, just an increasingly awkward silence.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

I think AGD is telling us (and he would know), that A.B. is not involved in these projects.

Give him a big thanks from all of us for The SMiLE Sessions
And if he drops a few hints about future releases that would be a bonus

You're right, but he should still be asked. I mean, we have literally zero information on upcoming releases (other than the new studio album), so spending three seconds to ask if he knows anything about a new boxed set or compilation or reissue is well worth it.

Go and get a bite to eat with Alan and see what comes up. He's an easy going guy but I hear his time is very limited. Treat him to the meal.

Not exactly... just saying that 99% of folk here are taking it as a given that he is, and thus far I've seen no mention of it. Here's a hint - if you can talk silent movies beyond slapstick comedy, that'll help.

I'm a big silent movie buff. Especially early German Expressionism from people like F.W. Mernau and Fritz Lang. Perhaps I should contact Mr. Boyd.

I'm sorry to again get back to spelling things, but it is "Murnau", not "Mernau", and pronounced "Moorenow".
