And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Biggest surprise on that list for me is Madonna.

That's because the Beach Boys weren't one of the options to choose from..

Which was strange

There's a real possibility this list was created before the "celebration" was announced, because for sure they would make the list.

Also that, I remember getting asked to vote for this a few months ago

roger waters, black sabbath, and van halen, yes. madonna and bruce springsteen? don't they tour all the time anyway? how about the stone roses, whose first show sold out within the first hour of sales? or blur? springsteen does not need any recognition, especially as the most anticipated. i mean who votes for these lists.

How about Rolling Stone is an American publication and doesn't cater to britpop fans?

If Rolling Stone was interested in being a serious music publication, which they aren't, then, yes, they would mention that one of the most important bands of the last 30 years (The Stone Roses) were reforming after years of fans pretty much giving up the possibility that that would happen.

Springsteen hasn't toured in over two years.  This will also be his first series of concerts since the death of Clarence Clemons.

I don't get all the hate for Rolling Stone.  They have some great articles and talented writers.  Without Rolling Stone, there would be no Cameron Crowe, Annie Leibowitz, or Hunter Thompson.

There would be a Hunter S. Thompson if Rolling Stone never existed. In fact, he was already doing significant work before Rolling Stone had their first issue. Cameron Crowe and Annie Leibowitz I would consider no real loss.
