They need to play "Celebrate The News"! It's not only a fantastic song by Dennis but also thematically appropriate given this celebration, haha.

I mentioned the Elvis - The Concert idea in another thread but the more I think of it the more I wonder if it really is such a good idea. I don't know. I'd be happy if they have pictures of Dennis and Carl for the whole show on stage. Or two un-used microphones. Long as they do a good show it'll be a great tribute to the two of them.

I just hope that Mike doesn't still double Al's (the falsetto) part at the end of GOK. The Knebworth version isn't the strongest, but Mike's voice at the end really ruins it and I've heard other versions where he did that.
Oh and I hope that Bruce won't scream during every song what it is called and which album it was on.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I like the idea from that Elvis show. Just play GOK with Carl's lead vocal playback and the band sing the backing vocals live.
Lalala. They read it! :D

I would've personally preferred that each Beach Boy would have shared lead vocals on the songs and then use either Dennis or Carl's vocal/footage at the end.  This way, it keeps the song interesting and vibrant and not just like you're watching a video (yes, even though the band is playing live).

For example, with "Forever" I think a more emotional approach would have been that they started with pictures of Dennis on screen,  Brian taking a couple verses, then Dave taking the next one and on the last verse the song takes its emotional pique when the image of Dennis on the screen transforms into the video footage of him singing the song.  This would have surprised the crowd that Dennis was able to "join" them onstage to sing the song one more time.  Before the little trick outstays its welcome...the song would be over.
